Statutory Paternity Pay

if your OH isnt entitled to Paternity Pay - is there anything else they can claim or is that just 'it'??

i know it says employer could give you paid holidays if they choose too.

but can they claim anything else??

my OH has only worked for this company since beginning of Sept and to claim SSP he has to have been there since April!

I can't think of anything - if he wasn't at work at all you could prob claim income support or something, but assume he'll be going back.
If he doesn't want to use hoildays could he ask for extra, unpaid leave? I know it's not ideal money wise but would give you some time together with your baby girl....

I don't think he is entitled to anything else either.

My OH can't even take SPP as we simply can't afford it. Its rubbish! Luckily he might be able to work from home for a week and only pop in for an hour or so at a time, otherwise he would have ZERO time off

nope, i dont think so. Paternity pay seems rediculous anyway, for most OH's being the main source of income its a MASSIVE pay cut, seems as though they may aswell take holiday.

luckily my OH moved jobs to work with the Police and they are allowing him 10 days paid holiday (taken at the drop of a hat come January) which is very good x

This is an issue for us too.. Really gets me cross.. My OH is entitled to SPP but is such a huge drop in pay for us it's not worth it.. We can't afford the drop to him getting just over £100 a week for 2 weeks! He has got a few days holiday he can take, but he wanted to save it for Christmas really...

Oh well.. not much we can do.. (apart from be naughty and him phone in sick.. although I think his work may know what's going on!) xx

I think it is ridiculous the amount they get paid! OH is taking it but only because he wants to be able to spend time with us...we can't afford it but as he said, it is only 2 weeks.

I think it should be the same as maternity pay...if you have been with the company for a certain length of time then it is 90% of normal pay and if only for a shorter time then make it a less amount (although I still don't think it should be as low as it is). At least that way everyone gets something xx

My OH isn't entitled to it either - he misses out by 3 weeks But, we don't think we would take it anyway - the pay cut is huge and we can't afford to lose the wages. Think he is planning on taking a couple of weeks annual leave, split up into two single weeks so that he can spread it out a bit more. Its rubbish!

it's so unfair isnt it

theres no way he'll be missing out the first 2 weeks of our baby's life - so we'll just have to be careful spending those first 2 weeks while hes not getting paid.

my friends husband is entitled to it - so hes claiming but hes stil going to work (he never spends much time at home anyway and works 6/7 days a week) u'd think he wanted to be with his wife and baby but its not looking like it! i dont know how she puts up with it tbh
