How are you planning to dispose of dirty diapers?

Are you getting a diaper pail? If so, what kind, and where do you plan to put it so that odor isn't a problem?

I was considering getting one and putting it in the baby's room - but not sure if that's a good idea? Can a regular trash bin with garbage bags work instead of a diaper pail?

Thanks!

We were talked into the Diaper Genie Elite II by a lot of our friends. Haven't had the baby yet, but I've more good things than bad about this pail.

I was also advised to avoid regular garbage pails, as they don't really keep the odor out and the odor can seep into the can itself. Diapers are stinky and unhygienic!

I'm keep the genie in his room as I heard it keeps out odor and is hands free! I'm also keep some hand sanitizer on the dresser to use right after changing. Hope my two cents help!

personally everytime she is changed one of us will be putting it in the outside bin, it wont take two seconds and i guess it makes changing her a joint experiance lol.

I'm going for cloth diapers! There's no way I keep smelly nappies in the house!

I think I'm going to get a super cheap second hand diaper genie from somewhere with a few refills as I'm planning to go reusable after 6-8 weeks and so won't need it after that. But I also don't want to be running downstairs and out to the bin in the middle of the night if I need to change a nappy.

I will be getting this diaper pail that kinda works like the diaper genie, but you do not have to buy the specific bags that the diaper genie requires. This pail just takes normal garbage bags. It works like the genie, in that, it holds in the odor and you do not have to open the whole lid when inserting a new diaper. All you do is, open the top part, insert diaper, close top part, then pull the lever down which opens the other section to drop the new diaper in the pail along with the others. Kinda hard to explain...here is a link:

I'll be putting the nappies in a fragranced nappy sack & outside in the rubbish bin straight away.

A friend of mine used one of those nappy disposal things & whenever she opened it to empty the whole thing, the smell of 30 nappies would hit her in the face. Not nice.

I got a Tommee Tippee Sangenic nappy disposal and 4 cartridges for less than £10 at the end of the last Asda baby event - this will work out same price as nappy sacks for the first 4 months. I wouldnt have paid full price as I know they are expensive!! We will see how it goes.

I plan using this just upstairs in nursery for night-time changes and it will get emptied every couple days.
