We have always just bagged the dirty ones and put them straight into the outside bin - they do stink the room out.

very quickly asap after change - into a nappy bag and into the outside bin! nooooo way can you keep that in the house unless it is very securely sealed - believe me within minutes of the nappy being soiled and changed the smell just seems to get around the whole house so you want it out v quickly! lol

I plan using this just upstairs in nursery for night-time changes and it will get emptied every couple days.
i have done and am planning to do exactly the same

Thanks for your comments! I will look into the Diaper Genie...it seems to be pretty popular. I've also heard good things about the Diaper Champ.

The alternative I'm thinking about is having a separate trash bin outside at the back of our house - specifically for diapers. I live in the Caribbean, so making regular trips to the outside bin wouldn't be a problem. (I'm not sure about the smell, though...since our bedroom and kitchen are also at the back of the house?). Then I can just transfer the full bag to the main bin at the front of the house on garbage pick-up day.
