Terrible GP appt. what a $%"**&!

Hi, I just have to come on here and have a moan about this as I'm completely upset and not sure what to do...

I've just been for my 38 week check with GP - he's a new guy and is covering maternity leave for my usual (nice) lady Dr.

I could tell straight away that he had NO IDEA what he was doing, I sat down gave him my blue notes and my sample pot and he just kinda looked at me and said 'so how can I help you?'

He then checked my pee (all neg. ) and put the BP machine on my arm - which then read ERR and I had to tell him that it wasn't done properly. Then he asked me if I'd been feeling LO move - I said yes, but not so much, just pokes and prods and he said 'ooh, thats not good' and I explained TO HIM, THE DOCTOR that as its 38 weeks I prob will only feel little kicks and stuff and space is a little tight!! He said 'oh i suppose so'

Then he asked me to get on the bed to feel LO, he went off to 'get the doppler' and was gone ages... the bed was set for sitting up and when he came back I asked him if I should not be lying down!! Then he couldn't find the gel to hear LO so he went off again

Eventually he listened to a very faint and intermittent noise (on the wrong side of my abdomen as LOs back was quite obviously sticking up on other side!) and said HB was 135 - and then felt LOs position

This is where I am really cross as he just kind of poked at LO and declared that LO was not engaged AT ALL. I said that the last 3 MWs I'd seen had written that LO is engaged (infact last appt she had said 3/5) and he scoffed and said 'I don't know why they have written that!)

I was fuming by now - I want ot be reassured at check ups not feel like its my little brother checking me over!!

I asked if its pos for baby to be engaged and then not be and he said no. Then he got the tape measure and just kept moving his hand down to way past my pubic bone, almost to the point where I was gonna slap him! He didnt say what the measurement was... don't think he even knew what it should have been.

So.. I didn't ask about the leaking I had the other day (pos waters?? dunno?) or the pains I've been having OR about my bad stomach and discharge as I just didn't feel like he knew anything ...

Phew.. feel better now I've ranted a bit but I still want to call the surgery and complain

Nasty old doctor I will never be going there again!!

Oh hun, that's not good at all. Could you not contact the docs and ask for an appt. with another doc or have another appt. with a MW instead? I would make a complaint, if he's doing that to you, then god knows what he's doing to others!
I had a relatively bad experience when I was preg with ds and had an appt. with my GP at the time - she's retired thank god, saying 'there was a lot of me' and that it was hard to feel the baby - mw's hadn't had a problem so far so why should she and generally treated as a pleb or something! Why do health professionals have to be like this?!?!?! Lol my rant over now!!

it is possible for baby to dis-engage, mine was 2/5 one weeks and the next popped out again
