Looking at the castor oil thing I personally wouldn't.

See if the curry works first sounds like the safer option xx

I have read somewhere that DTD can help bring on labour but its the oxytocin in sperm that do the magic - I also heard (and I'm sure your DH will like this) that it works quicker if you actually swallow it!! rather than DTD tee hee! Try that one on DH x

P.S. Clary sage is apparantly really good natural remedy too

I wouldn't try it hun...I heard about someone who took it and got piles from taking it (ie they kept straining because of the oil when there was nothing to come out)...

I think that mixed with curry may be a recipe for disaster - literally!!

If its any consolation me and hubby DTD last night and I am still here as pregnant as you!!

xx

This is a bit confused...Oxytocin is the feel good hormone that is released during sex which can bring on labour - Spern actually contains prostagladins which soften and thin the cervix (prostagladins are given during induction)

Thanks guys, was going to send DH out to buy some castor oil, but think I might leave it for now, not saying I'm not going to try, just might wait until I'm 41 weeks!!!

I wouldnt try the castor oil either. I've seen alot of sites talking about ways to bring on labour and most of them say they wouldnt recommend it anymore.
Walking (Lots of it too!) and also nipple stimulation is supposed to start the uterus contracting.
I was 12 days over with my first and I tried everything.. and I mean EVERYTHING!!! And she was still late lol! To be honest tho I think these things only really work if the cervix is ready.

if it doesn't work your in for a lot of discomfort and risk of dehydration cos you will have very crampy diarrhoea!

I know how desparate you feel to get bubs out, but labour is not guaranteed, the squits are!

I certainly wouldnt do it.
Its fun trying the pineapple, long walks, the sex. Think theres point where got to stop.

Your baby will make there appearance as and when they like, "regardless" of what you do.
Running risks, that dont need to be done.

Funny this thread appeared today - I bought castor oil in the chemist - it was only £1.70! I am still in two minds. I was deffo going to leave it til the am after a good nights sleep. One of my fav books (by Midwife Ina May's guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin) says that it works in about 9% of cases and says to take 1 tablespoon at breakfast after a full nights sleep and then another 1 tablespoon one hour later - she says it tastes best if mixed up in scrambled eggs! Im still thinking about it!! Am 6 days over.

i was told with DD and DS nothing will work if baby is not ready same as a sweep if baby is not ready it don't work but once your midwife tells you baby is ready get trying and most of the tips you hear about will work good luck hun xx
