Try to make a telephone appointment with a doctor (ask the receptionist to do this as it's only for gaviscon and don't need to waste a dr's time with it - they'll thank you!!) and just tell them you've thought about taking what you were prescribed but would be much happier with a prescription for plain old gaviscon which is less controversial. I got 3 repeat prescriptions for the big bottles of gaviscon pepermint as i've been going through tonnes of the stuff!! (and paying tonnes for it before i realised i now get free prescriptions and can get it on prescription - doohhhh!!)

I found rennies tablets (the chalky ones not the chewy ones) much better than gaviscon, :-)
