I'm Currently Feeling:

BP at the doctor's VS BP at home

At the doctor today, my BP was 137/90, pulse 148!!!!! and a few hrs later in a more relaxed environment my BP was 125/72 and pulse at 110.

I hate that!! It is only because I am still not comfortable in the new hospital surroundings when compared to my nice office at my family doctor.

Anyone else have this happen? I know Goldlion had some issues with different readings in different settings. It is so frustrating.

The doctor did not comment on it at all, so it is all good.

I think this is quite a common problem. Lots of people who can check their BP at home find it's much lower than at the doctors or hospital. Mine is probably the same.

Yeah this definitely has happened to me often. I'm now on BP meds to "regulate" my blood pressure because my doctor wouldn't get off my back... I'm still very stubborn in saying that I don't have blood pressure issues and it's only with that specific doctor.

It's frustrating, isn't it? At least they didn't seem concerned. Sometimes it's so hard to feel comfortable at the doctor's office.

Yep, it is a normal reaction to the setting.

If I were you, I might log my BP when I take it at home. Then if your doc says anything about it, just show her the readings you got each time you took it at home, and tell her that you still are getting used to a new environment, and when your in a familiar setting, its perfectly normal. My pulse goes high sometimes at the doctors, but BP is usually normal.
