| 38+6 and Our Little man is here! My Little boy Quentin Anthony William arrived at 8.55am Saturday 7th Nov.
it was a surprisingly quick labour, which totally took me by surprise.
having been convinced i was just really badly constipated at 12.30am i strugggled to 'go' and it got painful, regularly so i strapped myself up to my TENs machine and started monitoring, and they were coming stronger and more frequent, by 3am they were making me wince which woke hubby up. by 4am we were at hospital it took them about 40 mins to process me. having asked for a urine sample and looked at my records the midwife came back suggesting i might just have a UTI.
**i'm thinking - ok if this is a UTI - GOD help me when i'm in labour**
at this point my waters started involuntarly leaking - also reinforcing her suggestion of a UTI. so roll on 30 mins she examined me to find me 8cm dilated!! it was really hurting by this point and i wasn't allowed any gas & Air until i'd been examined. needless to say the midwife was quiet taken aback by her discovery and Gas and Air arrived promptly.
i was then moved across the corridor to a delivery suite and a new midwife shift came on and she stayed on through out, i was totally out of it on gas and air for the rest of the labour, since it was the only thing i was allowed due to my late admission. Hubby was fab, he kept me well watered and held my hand etc, i was constantly monitored as my BP was a little erratic. so i was bed bound but in all honestly if i hadn't withdrawn inside myself i would have probably been a lot longer.
anyhow, totally natural labour (TENs and G&A only), few stitches, he weighed 7lbs 10.5ozs and hubby cut the cord and watched the head crown.
he's doing really well, breastfeeding well, we're home now after an overnight stay to ensure i was feeding properly. |
