Advice needed... asthma

Im now 35 weeks and I honestly cant breathe, the pressure on my lungs is too much for me to cope with !!

Im not really sure what to do cause my inhaler doesn't work (and i have just this min run out of it) I dont really want to go and spend hours on end up the hospital. I dont really know what they can do anyway !!??

Anyone else struggling at all ?

I did try and talk to my midwife about this and she said she couldnt help me so i should speak to my GP, which when i tried to make an appointment he is on hols and there is no other doc available in the afternoons (only time i can get there)

Please help me lol.

aww poor you, i suffer with asthma too. My breathing has been really quite bad especially when walking up stairs, lying on my back etc in the last few weeks. Ive just tried to slow down a bit and take my time, and if I am strugging I sit down and take a rest.
I hope it's not too unbearable for you!

If you are worried at all give the maternity unit a ring and they will give you advise, mine are really helpful and they could prob prescribe you a new inhaler. No waiting rooms, although the odd screaming lady to put you off labour.

I'm struggling too. I have breathing problems due to a lung problem some years ago. I told the midwife who suggested seeing the GP. I did that and she tried to fob me off. But now it's getting sore to breathe I insisted she refer me to the hospital. I want to know I'm going to be able to breathe during labour!

I have ashma too, and my midwife said she couldn't help me and would need to see a doctor. So went to the doctor who also said couldn't help me and would have to rely on my inhaler!! Lol. Ridiculous. So have just had to suffer through it really. Kept waking up in the right as not being able to breath! Sorry i can't be more help.

It will get easier though and will be ok in labour, as baby drops and gives lungs more room so you will be able to breathe x

My doctor told me that 1/3 of ladies suffer from worsened asthma during pregnancy and I seem to be in that third too! Last time round my asthma was badly managed and I ended up at the emergency, on call, doctors over Christmas where I was diagnosed with a chest infection and had a turn on the nebuliser. If you feel it's really your asthma that's bad then get yourself to the emergency docs or the hopsital, it's better to be sure and to talk to soeone who will take your concerns seriously (I felt that the doctors at my GPs were just giving me the brush off when I KNEW it was an asthma issue, not just a pregnancy thing.

get yourself to the seaside for a weekend - the salt air will help your lungs open up!

Surely if you have no inhaler (dont let your inhalers run out...really very silly!!) you can make an emergancy appointment with *a* GP at your surgery to get a prescription written and filled TODAY?
It may be that the breathing issues are nothing to do with your asthma and therefore there isnt anything anyone can do (ie if its basically a space due to baby issue) and you have to take it slow and easy between now and birth. Thats the case for a lot of people but you do need to be seen to be sure there isnt an underlying chest issue (like your asthma getting worse or a chest infection)
