Fundal Height way too big for dates

Hi girls,
I am over here a couple days early. I had an u/s to check everything at 24w1d. She was wonderful and healthy and 46% of size which is a little smaller than perfect average. My fundal height measured great at 24 cm. 10 days later, I lost my plug over the weekend. I had a cervical check at 25w4 days. Instead of measuring 25cm fundal height, I measured 30 cm!!! The nurse got really worried and the doctor came in. She re measured and confirmed the 5 week jump in fundal height. She said if she hadn't seen the u/s results from less than two weeks before she would be "more concerned." I go back for my GD test at 26w6d on Thursday. They will measure my fundal again. If it is over 2cm big, I have to have another u/s..
I am super scared. What if I have diabetes or the baby went abnormal? Everything was so good. I am not shrinking that is for damn sure.. Why would it jump sooo much in two weeks? I have gained about 23 lbs this pregnancy I feel like a moose. Am I so big I made the baby too big? Any advice would be great... Oh, I have had 4 u/s and they all put me spot on for my dates. I know the dates are right. What is going on?

Oh my cervix was fine. The plug came out, but I guess it regenerates. It was never labor. My cervix was long and closed. They blamed sex...

The ultrasounds are far more accurate than the fundal measurement. There's so many factors such as baby's position that can affect the fundal height. My understanding is that fundal height is just a general guideline and used as a means to determine if an ultrasound is needed or not to check for growth. If the scans are showing normal size, I'm sure there's nothing to worry about.

it could be extra fluid instead of big baby...but only a u/s will really tell it really could be nothing as fundal height really doesnt tell much...probably nothing to worry about

I measured +2 forever and then suddenly at 30 weeks I measured +6. I went for another ultrasound just to make sure everything was fine.

Edward was perfectly normal (and still is) and ended up coming 2 weeks late. He was 9lbs 6oz.

The fundal meansurements are a guide more than anything - more often than not, they are there to indicate a scan needs to be and the scan will often show that the cause of the growth is fluid - try not to worry hun xxx

last wednesday at my 28wk apt i measured 33cm, so i was sent for a growth scan.
went on Friday, and everything is totally fine!! Baby's head is measuring 4 days ahead (i blame OH for that...) but everything else was fine, even fluid levels. Sonographer thinks she may just have been laying awkwardly when my bump was measured making it bigger.

He plotted the result on the fundal chart, and it was totally diff to the measurements!
TBF, its probs better to be measuring bigger than smaller... dont worry.

If u wanna chat, PM me. xx

Try not to worry even though its hard. I was measureing 22 cms at 22 weeks then when I went at 26weeks I was measureing 33cms!!! So my belly grew 11 cms in 4 weeks. I was gobsmacked. I had the GD test and the results were normal. Still dont know why I am measureing so big but my midwife doesnt really seem too bothered. As the other girls have said fundal height is quite unreliable. xxx

Fundal height is just a best guess hun. You could have a tiny baby and loads of fluid or a huge baby and not a lot of fluid and have you fundal height measure the same. The ultrasounds are more accurate as they measure the baby and not the bump. My fundal height is 5 weeks behind (which put him in the 4th percentile) and Flump is bang on 50% percentile according to the scan so mine was out by 46% percent. I'm just not carrying a lot of fluid.
