if baby is big, do they tend to induce early???

i'm just having a bit of a panic as LO is measuring on the large side and i am only tiny! I have a MW appt on fri so will see how things are then as i know things can change and her growth may slow down, but from people's experience, if the mum is tiny and baby is big do they tend to induce early???

Here they don't induce early unless there is a really good reason. Babies grow at really different rates and they have growth spurts (mine especially did around 28-30w) and also it isn't an exact science regarding measurement (even by ultrasound). Fundal measurement can be especially unreliable - I was measuring a week behind by FM and 2 weeks ahead by ultrasound at 31w - so who knows!
Another note - remember that most babies suit the size of their mothers unless there are complications (like GD). Also - it isn't the size of LO and you as much as it is the size of your pelvis opening and LO's head. I have a friend who gave birth to a just-under 10lb baby at 5'-3" with no problems and no tearing. I have also heard of others on here who were much taller, but had issues due to pelvis size even though LO wasn't very big.
My OH was 12lbs so I hope LO doesn't take after him, but I am hoping for a 7-8-9lb baby max. We'll see. !!
Just wanted to add - my #1 wish ofcourse is a healthy baby- big or small!!
xx

the midwife just said at last appt that baby felt big and said about 9lbs birthweight, and that for my 28week appt (fri when i will be 28+6) she will look again and if still growing at same rate will book me in for growth scans. had a 4D scan at 25+5 and she was measuring 27+4. I was 10lbs when i was born (wouldn't think it now!) so i hope she isn't takig after me! x

I am being induced, but its due to spd and babys size, but I a measuring 6 weeks ahead and have been for some time
baby is on the 98th percentile

I live in the US so might be different here.

I was induced early (3 days) because my son was measuring big. I had 2 additional growth scans during weeks 32 and 37 and confirmed that my son was big. I had no other issues such as GD, SPD, or anything like that. When he was born he was 10lbs, 22 inches long, and apparently had the biggest head they had seen in a long time.

Maybe you can ask if they will induce you a touch early to avoid a huge baby if you are concerned.

is there really a big difference to pushing out a 7lbs baby or a 9 or 10lbs baby? Honestly.. this is my first so I'm curious.
