Hi,

i'm 28 weeks and 6days. i had a midwife appointement yesterday and she said there was sugar in my urine, which she is coming to check again on saturday. Apparently this can be a sign of diabetes, but im unsure?

She also measured my stomach and said the Fundal height is smaller than it should be, i now have to go to the hospital for an appointment on wednesday. Does anyone know what this actually means, and what will happen at the hospital? as i am a bit worried.

Sugar in your urine can be a sign of gestational diabetes--but not necessarily. Have they done the glucose test on you yet? As for the fundal heights it simply means that they don't think the baby has grown as much as he/she should have--they may send you for a scan to measure the baby's growth. I wouldn't worry too much about it--babies grow at different rates and there are a lot of women here who measure smaller/bigger than their Dr. thinks they should.

No, no glucose test been done. The midwife said she is callin round tomorrow morning for another urine sample.
I have got an appointement at the hospital on wednesday, do you think i wil have a scan?

My OH niece was measuring small and had a scan, wouldnt worry to much if you already have had the Gestational screening done

They might do a scan--can't really say for certain though. Good luck on Wednesday.

They will probably do a gestational diabetes test because of the sugar in your urine and they will probably give you a scan if you're measuring small. Don't worry yet hon, you can measure large/small by 2-3 weeks in fundul height and everything is usually alright. Good luck at your appointment
