Did you read the old threads on here? There are lots of people who have done a lot of research and posted about it. Howver the info and advice is still confusing, so it is still difficult to know what to do. I have kind of decided not to have it (I am 33 weeks too) but I am dreading getting the letter as I know that it will send my head into a spin again!

Hun there is a post in 2nd trim, and lady asked her gp if he would advise his wife to have it. It's got 2 types of vaccine in the heading and has some interesting points in it that may help you. x

Yeah thats whats got me in turmoil!! 3rd tri is supposed to be higher risk to catch it due to lung capacity being reduced and so on, but with only 6 and a bit wks to go it's confusing do I risk catching it or get the vaccine with unknown possible side effects? AAAAAARGH

I posted about this a week ago - I'm so unsure.

For me it comes down to this...

Immunity for baby for 6 months versus possible long term effects unknown as yet.

:S

iv'e asked my midwife about it at my 28 week appointment. she said "as a midwife i need to advise you to have it but if i were pregnant now i would not have it. it has been churned out far too quickly with not enough research"

i'm reasonably healthy and i had flu back in May and got over that ok so i don't think i will be having it.

I understand the turmoil you are in. I went through it for weeks. Today I got my shot. DH and I did lots of research and feel confident it was the best decision for us at this moment with the information we had available. That is all we could do.

It came down to an evaluation of the effects of the virus vs the shot.

Short term: DH and I couldn't find any information that showed the shot having the potential of serious negative impacts, where as the virus has the proven potential to cause serious problems very quickly. (again short term analysis here)

Long term: Both are new and there is no knowledge about what the long term impacts could be on the fetus, baby or me. We can only assume things based on past experiences with past vaccines, and past flu bugs.

That said, it was a hard decision to make and everyone has to make it based on the information they have for their family. Good luck darling. Trust yourself and realize it is your family that matters and its your decision.

I had my letter a few days ago and im now biteing nails as OH does not want me to get it as he feels it could harm the baby as we yet dont know the effects. Im in two sides about it, do i get it and hope for the best and make sure me and baby are ok or do i risk getting swine flu.

Its hard im going to the docs on friday to get info

It sadly all boils down to wieghing up your personal risk though with limited info about the jab it's not that easy!
If you are healthy, at low risk of coming into contact with swine flu and are due sooner rather than later then it's tempting to say no.
However, I have diabetes, epilepsy, in third trimester and I'm a nurse in constant contact with patients and their relatives and other healthcare workers - I'm taking the jab!
I know it's not an easy choice, just take a careful look at your personal circumstances then decide, there is not one size fits all answer.
