ear stuffiness...anyone else experienced this??? very depressed!

Hi girls,

I have felt really depressed for the last week and a bit and cannot shake it off. 3 weeks ago I woke up with noise in one of my ears and some hearing loss. it was not too bad so I just ignored it and it got better. two weeks ago I woke up with it worse but again after a week it got better. This week however it has got progressively worse and worse and now I am so fed up!
I basically can hardly hear out of my right ear, but any noise I can hear hurts my head and feels very uncomfortable. Low pitched noises are amplified... (like cars on the road outside) and I can constantly hear a low pitched growl in my ear (a bit like being underwater...or if you stick your fingers in your ears)
I had read in one of my books that ear stuffiness is common in the 3rd trimester but it doesnt say what ear stuffiness is or how to get rid of it???
has anyone else got/had this and know how to get rid of it???
the book seems to suggest it can go on til I give birth....mentally I feel unable to deal with that!!!! I just want it to go away...I feel very depressed

I also have this for the last few weeks. Regular sounds are muffled, but others are amplified - it is annoying! Also they are ringing/popping off and on. I don't think there is anything we can do about it though - apparently ear/nose stuffiness is common, but I don't know how to fix it without taking cold meds.
Maybe someone else has an idea??
xx

i have had problems with one ear since 3rd tri. it was really painful and i went to see the gp twice who just said it was a virus that was on its way out so wouldnt give me anything for it and then the 2nd time said it was a build up of wax!

ive been cleaning my ear out with a special ear cleaner but it still hurts now and again.

The worst bit is the smell! it sinks of fish! i can smell it when i chew something, guessing cos its all connected!

im just waiting for it to fade away again cos the doctor does nothing about it.

sob sob

I'm so glad I'm not alone on this! Ever since second trimester my left ear has been constantly clogged! If I cough and clear my throat it will go away momentarily but as soon as I swallow again or get out of breath it comes right back worse! Cleaning my ear out doesn't help hardly at all...

I had this (it's horrible isn't it) and had to have my ear syringed. Was told it's due to increased fluids and "stuff" in the body during pregnancy.

Off to the docs with you missus. Xxx

I'd go to the doc's and ask if something can be done. They may be able to clean your ear out for you and suggest some useful tips. Best of luck to you hun.

I occassionally have my ears feeling muffled, like when you go on a plane and they need to "pop". Luckily it doesn't last more than an hour or 2 at a time but there is no pattern as to when it comes/goes, it's very annoying though. Hope the doc can help.
