A question about breastfeeding...

I'm in my 31st week and my breasts are leaking some milk already. Usually if I notice it coming out, I will squeeze my nipple to get the rest out too... so it won't leak for very long. My question is; can doing this mature my milk too quickly? It used to only be the yellowish thick stuff, but now it's getting clearer. Could me doing this affect the my baby when I do start breastfeeding?

Don't do it. Honestly I can't remember whether it's to do with baby needing it or bringing on labour but it's bad.

Do not do this you will make more milk to replace it and it also might start labour off.

You produce colostrum 1st which is really good for the baby. You dont want the baby to miss out on this. If u do happen to have some leak out tho, rub it round ur nipples. Its very good for this. and continue to do that when u do breastfeed.

Squeezing it out stimulates milk production and the hormone that brings on labour, which is why nipple stimulation is one of the natural methods of inducing labour.

Nipple stimulation with encourage oxitocin - the labour hormone - which is why it's sometimes used as a natural method of labour induction as the others have said.

Leaking and the consistency of milk during pregnancy are not related to successful BFing.

Wear pads if you need to and let your body do it's thing

I did read somewhere though that if you want to bring on labour you have to do 4 hours of nipple tweaking per day for several days so TBH not sure that squeezing out the odd drop will cause any problems
