TENS Hire - When and Recommendations

Hi Ladies,

I'm thinking of hiring a TENS machine but not sure when I should order it or where I should get it from. Someone has recommended the Boots ones, but I'd be interested to know your opinions.

Many thanks,

Gem x

Hiya,

I have that Boots are the best place to hire them, for value for money and advanced ordering etc.

I was thinking about hiring one but I actually bought one at the Baby Show at Earl's Court last weekend for only £35. It's a MiracleTENS one and I was surprised at the price - I had seen ones a lot more expensive. But when I asked why it was so cheap the guy explained that some machines have what's called dual channel control, which means you can set the activity of the upper pair of pads at a different rate from the lower pair. This bumps up the price. It depends whether you think you will use this extra functionality - I personally wouldn't pay extra for this because I don't think I'll be bothered to think about controlling the pads separately while I'm in labour.

Of course, the guy also said they like to offer good value for money and many other brands are over-priced - all part of the sales pitch I guess, but it worked on me!

I can't tell you how good the MiracleTENS is as I haven't used it yet, but might be worth looking into - it seems to be well-endorsed, and you can hire it from their website I think if you don't want to buy one (I think the £35 was a special show offer - but you could have a look around to see if you can get the same deal somewhere, if you decide to buy one instead or hiring)

My MIL also bought one at the show for her arthritis!
