| contraction... maybe? When I was at my mothers I was standing in the kitchen and all of a sudden I felt my tummy tighten up with a sharp, gripping pain (similar to an electric shock - a bit like, if you've ever had one of those belts that supposedly tones up your tummy muscles by sending electric shocks through it?) It came over me suddenly, peaked, and then went away even more suddenly - afterwards it was over so soon that I almost wondered whether it had happened at all, except it had made me yelp and double over and my husband was looking worriedly at me and asking if it was a contaction or baby kicking!
It's been a good 40 minutes or so since then and I've not felt anything else apart from the usual kicking and wriggling from baby.... was this a contraction? Or does anyone have any idea what it could be??
Any input much appreciated | | | | Status: Offline

| I get tons of pains like right where I think my cervix is, that shoots up my bump. My bump goes hard and tight, but then it goes... Very quick like yours. I was worried it may be real contractions, but so far, it seems to be irregular, so I'm assuming its just painful BH. If you've only had one in 40 mins I wouldn't worry much tho... My doctor told me if I have more than 6 in one hour, then go in. Its not fun tho, sometimes it feels like the baby is trying to climb her way out!! | | | | Status: Offline

| Well, I've had nothing else since then and baby has been moving fine, so I'm assuming it must have just been BH, or like Tam said baby hitting a nerve. I've got the midwife tomorrow so will mention it to her anyway, see what she says.

| My mum has one, too - funny thing is we see the same midwife and she's accidentally double-booked us! I was like, "I have the midwife at half three tomorrow" and my mum was like "oh, so do I" heh. | | | | Status: Offline
