Multiple Fibroids and cesarean? And having a baby over the weekend?!

Don't know if anyone has experience of this, but my consultant has said all along it was likely I would have a cesarean and that baby might come early as my 4 fibroids might not leave him full space to develop. Well here we are at 39 weeks, he's still in there and no decision on the cesarean.

I saw a different midwife on Friday and she told me I must push for a decision when I see the consultant this week. She underlined the risk of hemorrphaging after birth and also told me I didn't want to go into labour over the weekend when a full complement of staff would not be at the hospital if I was likely to need an emergency c-section and or an emergency blood transfusion. She also suggested the c-section might not be straighforward as one fibroid is on the front wall and they couldn't cut through it due to the increased risk of bleeding.

Don't even get me started on her comments about my 'elderly pelvis' (I'm 38!)

Anyone have any experience of c-section and fibroids?
Also surely it can't be true that its more risky to have a baby over the weekend?! Can it???

Nope, not got fibroids, but am being induced at the weekend if no show before then... risk of needing a c-section, and def. having physio intervention, but still being induced on a Saturday night, so they can't be that bothered where I am about it being the weekend! Hope that helps...

sorry, no advice or anything, but just wanted to say good luck. I would personally push for the c-section though if it was me in your position though, but that's just me.
Keep us updated though...

Hi, I had a planned c-section in august and it didn't go to plan at all! I ended up with a crash team in theatre for the baby and then a crash team once in recovery for myself....I spent almost twelve hours in a theatre side room as they discovered I had/have fibroids during the internal I was given by the crash team consultant, mine were not removed but I needed serious and constant monitoring for the twelve hours prior to my c-section as I lost nearly a litre and a half of blood....if and when I get pregnant again it will be again by c-section (my 4th in fact) and will be at 36 weeks maximum and my womb will be removed as everything is weakened now....my case was pretty rare and extreme but I would reccomend the c-section 100%!

Thanks for the replies! Saw the consultant today and he said unfortunately i had been frightened by someone running through the worst case scenarios without knowing my case. So he's still expecting a normal birth and says the comment about the skeleton staff at the weekend is rubbish.....he also suggested I might want to make a complaint against the midwife for her rash comments
