Yuck, i have a cold, and it won't go away! Any home remedies i can take?

Basically i've had the cold for over a week now, and it's getting worse instead of better. As if it's not bad enough to be getting up to pee half the night, i'm also now waking up to blow my nose! It is quite bad as i'm really green (TMI sorry), so know i'm infected, but so far haven't so much as taken a paracetamol, i don't see the point in them as i'm not in pain.

Does anyone know of any safe-in-pregnancy home remedies?

I've been having hot water with a couple of spoonfuls of honey, half a lemon and a spoonful of sugar all mixed in. It has soothed my sore throat and cough.

Boiling water in a bowl, pop a towel over your head and breathe in the steam to try and clear your head a little.

Even better if you get a tub of menthol crystals from boots and pop a few of them in the water - wayyy better than olbas oil/vicks.

Failing that its a good excuse for a long hot bath - the steam does help to shift the snotty head!

Paracetamol will help bring a temperature down they're not just for pain relief so take them it's safe I'd go with hot honey and freshly squeezed lemon juice as well, then if you suspect a bacterial infection it might be worth calling the docs as you might need antibiotics. Hope you feel better soon!

yeah if your snot or anything you are coughing up is dark green then go see a doc (sorry TMI I know) but if its dark green then you could have an infection.

Personally i'd be at the docs getting antibiotics, I really don't see the point wasting time trying out home remedies when you could have an infection hun, The sooner you start antibiotics the sooner you will feel better. There are several antibiotics safe during pregnancy hun
I've had 3 courses of antibiotics during this pregnancy so far, 1 for uti & 2 for chest infections.

i swear this got me through a really bad cold the other week, i was adding hot water and making it into a tea to drink.

if its green though, that would suggest an infection and you need antibiotics, there are many that are safe to take in pregnancy so dont worry about that.
