What kind of socks prevent swelling?

My feet seem to be swelling up more lately (even though the weather is getting cooler) and the elastics on my socks leave deep impressions by the end of the day. What kind socks should I be wearing?

The leg swelling was driving me crazy (especially behind the calves) and they would leave super deep impressions on my legs and itch like mad. I can also push against the leg and it leaves fingerprints that stay for quite a while. Anyway - I actually started wearing those little short below-ankle socks because it bothered me more to have tall socks on or compression socks than to just wear almost no socks. My legs are still obviously swelling, but they don't get itchy and irritated from the socks. Don't know if this would be considered the "best" choice though as it doesn't minimize swelling like compression socks do!

Ted Hose, thats what we use in the hospitals. they are a lot like stockings.

Compression socks or flight socks (which are the same thing)

I havent been wearing socks & yet my feet still swell up! They resemble Shreks feet! Good job I havent got long left! Compression socks sound like a good idea though x x

I've been using a compression/flight stocking for ages to keep my one rouge leg in check - but for socky-socks you can get loose-tops which have no tight band of elastic x
