Hey hun,
Hope this is some comfort.. 1) a friend of mine was diagnosed with herpes in late pregnancy and it cleared up in time for her to have vaginal birth.. lucky girl had just a 4 hour labour! 2) she NEVER had another outbreak and to this day hasn't seen a single hint of herpes.. yay! 3) another friend had to have a c-section (not due to herpes) and then went on to have two more by vaginal birth.. yay again!
I know it's hard but stress REALLY plays a part in severity and length of outbreak so try your hardest not to become obsessed with your lady parts (put that mirror down!) and use positive thinking to clear it up in time for bubs arrival, i know that's easier said than done but try.
How and where you got it can be worked out and got angry about at a later date, what is important now is to keep positive and strong for little one sending you hugs xx

honey anyone who has ever had a cold sore has herpes. herpes on the lip can be passed to "downstairs" in a fit of passion. You are not nasty.

As someone else said, the doctor was talking rubbish re you not being able to have a vaginal birth after a caesarian. What twaddle. I think you've dealt with the worst - having to tell your oh to get tested.

Now you can concentrate on getting lots of vitamin C into you to boost your immune system and getting this little flare-up over and done with. Worrying will make you feel worse honey. Crap happens - he happened to you and you dumped him a year and a half ago! At least you now know you have it and can take vit c to avoid any future flare ups.

Hey i am glad someone has mentioned this as i was trying to think of ways to word it and write a tread!
I do not know if i have herpes or not!!! I am going to try and find out when i next have a doctors appointment! You see this is the horrid part and i try not to be ashamed of it anymore and not to be scared about talking about it as it was not my fault...i was raped when i was 14 and never told a soul..i never get tested for anything, i was far far far too frightened and trying to pretend it never happened! It was a tough time and i came a hermit! I amglad to say i am over that and i know it has just made me the person i am today.
BUT.. i think i may have contracted herpes of this person as my vagina and surrounding areas became itchy and sore and i thought i had all the sypmtoms of herpes..(i read about all STD, but i was still to scared to do anything)..
I got some thrush cream to try and get rid of it( i just wanted to believe so much it was thrush) It was so so so scary i cant explain and being only 14 i was scared people would judge me and think things about me including the nurses and the clinic.
I am 21 now and never had unprotected sex with anyone apart from my OH (This would be why i am pregnant hehe) i was always too scared i didnt want to pass anything on to anyone else if i did have it! I bet your wondering why i have not been to be checked now i am 21 and now pregnant, its because i now have a massive morbid fear of STD checks alll becasuse of how scared i was before and i how i never dared go. So before i have this baby i an goin to find out once and for all if i actually have this! My baby comes first so i must find out before he or she is born!!
Its so sad that people think ewwww when ever herpes is mentioned but i have come to think that its not that bad (if i do actually have it) i have only had a few times when i thought i had an outbreak!!
I know you must be feeling pretty bad and it being a shock to you, with you not ever having an idea you may have it. And i hope that it goes away before babs is ready to come out
xx

Hi Beckibee - Dont know what to say and dont want to hijack OPs thread, but I just want you to know I'm so sorry that happened to you. Karma would dictate that piece of sh*t is in a very bad place by now.

Hey hon. I am sorry that happened to you. I hope that pig is dead and gone somewhere honestly.

As for herpes, I don't know everything about it but have been keeping my face implanted in the PC since yesterday. I read that you should share with your OBGYN/Doctor/Midwife that you have a history with herpes. In your case, I would just mention that you may have a history with it but are not for sure as have never been tested. As far as I know the only precaution they will take is giving you anti-viral meds in the last month of your pregnancy to prevent outbreaks so you can have your baby naturally.

I hope you decide on what you want to do hon. Best of luck!! xx

I have HSV-1 - the type you usually find around the mouth (genital is usually type 2). Well, in university I was in a bad, bad, BAD relationship with a HORRIBLE person who contacted HSV-1 on his genitals from... activity with a stripper. He cheated on me, then didn't tell me, and purposefully gave me the virus so that I was "damaged, and no one else would want me but him".

I dealt like feeling disgusting and dirty for YEARS (on top of the other ways he made me feel...). I finally got the guts to get rid of him (after a stint in the hospital), and found a fantastic, wonderful guy who, despite not being thrilled with my situation, was very understanding.

I too was freaking out about how herpes would affect my pregnancy and delivery. Basically what the doctor told me was that if there was an outbreak, they would treat it (probably with exactly what you have). When it comes time for delivery, they will take swabs and test the area and as long as their is no evidence of the virus I would be safe to deliver naturally.

Stay positive, stress plus lowered immune system triggers the virus, so relax, enjoy the last few weeks, and focus on your LO I'm here if you need to chat!
