NCT

Hi,
I am only 20 weeks pregnant but wanted to know if the NCT classes are worth doing or just keep with NHS?

Thought people here might have been?

From what I've heard, although they are very helpful in telling you what's going to happen etc. most of the info you can get on line. However, I've been told by loads of people that its REALLY great to get to know other couples who are expecting a baby at the same time as you. So it's kind of like investing a LOT of money in the hope to make friends.

I found it really good and informative and it gets your partner involved too. Yes you can get most of the info online but it's not the same has having a person there to ask specific questions to IMO

TBH I didn't learn anything new from NCT classes (probably because I'd been TTC for 2 years and read everything going ) but they were fantastic for getting my DH involved, it was almost like the dads got competitive about who knew the most, DH started reading the baby books which he'd not done before!
They're also great for meeting people. We all met up at least once per week before the babies arrived and again once they were here, it was lovely being able to talk about the babies with other people doing the same, also really helped my breastfeeding skill and confidence! I've moved country and we still keep in touch.
One of the girls had gone to the NHS class too and she'd found it "too much" because it was one of those one day things and think it was just too much information.

you really get to know the people in the class as they make sure the classes are small.
There definatly worth doing, very informative once they get going and the getting to know other couples is fab!
