Since I was switching insurances around the time that I would have normally had my test, and then had to wait for my new doctor to have an open appointment, I just had my gestational diabetes test today. She ordered it a week and a half ago, but I was nervous, and have an appt this Friday so I figured I better go get it done today! Well first of all, that drink was pretty bad. I dont care for really sweet drinks, so it was kind of difficult to get down... Then I started feeling pretty weird in the hour wait... I'm ok, so I go into the room to get my blood drawn. She had to poke me twice, since I have really small veins, but the needle didn't bother me. But suddenly when the blood started coming out, I got really dizzy and felt light headed. I felt worse and worse as it was coming, but luckily I got thru taking the blood. I thought I was going to faint, so the lady got me some cold water, and put a cold cloth on my head.. After a couple of mins I started to feel a little better and less like I was going to faint, but started feeling nauseas.. I asked for the trash can just in case, and a second later I was vomiting uncontrollably. I was shaking and felt faint more... So she had me sit there for a little bit with the cold cloth on my head, and drinking water (as much as I could keep down). After a little bit I was feeling a little better, but called my mom and asked her to pick me up since I didn't think I could make it home... I've been feeling sick all night...
Has anyone experienced this? I googled it, and one website said that some women will feel faint and nauseas, and possibly even vomit, and that it was a sign of hypoglycemia. Upon further research, I found that that is basically the opposite of diabetes, when you have too low of blood sugar. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks girls.
