Help, anyone who knows anything about gallstones

I posted a thread earlier about how I had a gallstone attack last night. It was really bad to the point I blacked out from the pain.

I got to sleep at about 7am, and when I woke at 11am I was fine. I had some toast as I was starving, then at Midday the pains started again.

I was again badly sick and have been asleep since then. I've woken up and am still in major pain. Usually after sleep the pain has gone.

Has anyone else ever had this??? Attack after attack and the pain not going away?? Any advice would be lovely as I'm starting to lose my mind not knowing when it'll end.

My advise would be to HOUND your GP for a scan.
My mother was told several years ago she had gallstones, put on a specific diet and worked very hard keeping too it. Last year from around April she started having an increasing number of painful episodes and ended up being VERY ill with doctors AND hospital telling her it was the gallstones and eventually they would remove the gall bladder yada yada...well last autumn she became even worse, drastic weight loss, severe pain...so bad that I had enough and forced her to get an ambulance into hospital. She was at a local hospital for a couple of weeks and they didnt really know what was wrong. She was being sick, throwing up black bile, had already lost over 2 stone and was very weak, she could barely lift her own head. She was tranfered to St Marys in Manchester where they discovered a large absess (linked to the gall bladder/gallstone problem) which they attempted to drain. In the end she was rushed into emergency surgery on boxing day last year. She didnt come out of hospital til almost march this year, she had lost over 6 stone in weight, lost most of her hair, all her muscle (due to being bed ridden for 7 months) and had a lot of other issues linked to malnutrition etc. She is much better now but is still weak, she still has numb spots where her body shut down (tried to die!) where the nerves are permanently damaged. She also still needs an operation to remove her gall bladder but due to the severity of her illness and the major operation she had they will not touch her for another 18 months.

This isnt put here to scare you but as a warning. If the problem is getting significantly worse then be PUSHY, dont let them fob you off with a "well have you been eating too much fat" or something else.

Thanks for replying I'm sorry your mum went through that.

I had an ultrasound at 23 weeks which confirmed the gallstones, i'd been pushing for once since 16 weeks. I saw a consultant about 4 weeks ago and I'm going back to see him in 2 weeks.

The thing is this is only the second attack since I saw him, but I've never had two in such quick succesion.

My OH wants to take me to a&e but I think that's being over dramatic, seeing as there's nothing I can do while pregnant.

Thanks Sun

I just threw up again....sorry if TMI but it was pure water/liquid. My OH is saying it's quite obvious I can't keep anything down and he wants me to go a&e.

I just don't know what to do I hate hospitals with a passion & don't want to go if there's nothing they can do.

Id go to A&E, having seen what this sort of thing can lead too I dont think there is any point in taking a risk.

I have gallstones.. have had them for about a year and 1/2 now. Every time I have an attack, I just go straight to the hospital. you're more likely to get a scan and you'll get medication (that IS safe for baby) to take care of the pain and vomiting. If you're having attacks back-to-back or constant pain that just doesn't go away, there's a good chance you could have an infection in which case the gallbladder HAS to come out. It's just too dangerous for you and baby to leave an infected gallbladder in there.

Good luck.

You really need to go to A & E there are numerous complications from gallstones some of them very severe. I'd go and get checked out if not for your sake for the babys

Thanks ladies. I can't get a lift for another 20 mins so I'm gonna see how I feel then.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go, the pain has died down a bit but not hugely & your right it's better to be safe than sorry.
