Anyone had an ECV?

Hi all,

Well baby is still breech so i have been booked in for an ECV tomorrow... was just wondering how many people have had one and what the success rate was?!

Also i am very uncomfortable with his head right in my ribs, was wondering if eases any when they are turned or if it is just a symptom you have to deal with at 37 weeks +

I feel sooooooo nervous today!

Kara xx

Just wanted to say good luck, I hope that it is successful for you. I think the success rates vary from hospital to hospital. My baby is breech as well and I am booked in for ECV next Friday if baby hasn't turned by then.

I'd love to know what they're like, my baba is breech (I'm only 30 weeks at the mo) and his head is jammed under my ribs (OUCH) but midwife did hint this morning that although everything may be fine it may be a case that he is this way up and has bee for a while because he cant get his head down - I'm due a rescan at 36 weeks for placenta position as it was very low at 20 weeks.

Blub, I hope everything has moved and he moves as he is killing me and I dont want a section!

Had the ECV today and unfortunately it wasn't successful so i am now booked in for a c section. They are convinced he won't turn on his own as i have a difficult abdomen apparently! Lol

Good luck polaris, hope you have better luck than me! Lol

And chuck, hope your baby turns before your next scan!

Sorry that it didn't work for you. I hope baby proves them wrong and turns around before your C-section date. When are you booked in for the c-section?

I'll be completely honest (as thats what i wanted people to be with me) and say that i found it quite painful BUT saying that it was only while he was turning him which only lasted around 10 mins, afterwards there was no pain and i only feel slightly bruised today which is to be expected i think.. i personally wouldnt choose to have it done again but i am glad we gave it a go. My main reason for this is the relaxant they give you via drip made me have heart palpatations that panicked me a bit.. maybe i'm a wuss! I dunno!

My c section is booked for the 21st october! 11 days until i meet my little man

Thanks for the information, it's really useful to know just to prepare myself a bit. When is your due date relative to the C-section date? I have spoken to two midwifes on my team and one said that they would book a c-section at 39 weeks and the other said that it would not be until my due date or thereabouts.
