I think that should be ok hun. My DH's Aunt rented off her sister and used HB. As you say, it is a legitimate private rental. This was in Scotland as well so I'm guessing the local authorities can't be too different in different Scottish areas.

It was great for both of them. HTH

Hiya, so long as ur parents are registered with the council that they are landlords and so long as they've cleared it with their mortgage company (if they have one) then it's all legit so the council should be ok to pay out. I'm from Scotland and work with private rentals so I should be correct! X

okie, so the mortgage company already know they are trying to sell it or rent it.. is that ok.. do they need to do anything else?
they havnt registerd as landlords yet because nobodys been interested in renting the house because of the market.. how do they do that?
Also would they put on the tenancy the full amount of rent the house is worth? according to size and area? or would they just put what theyre charging me..

I think the mortgage company need to change the type of mortgage so as long as they're ok with it then great. To register with the council, they can fill out a form but if they do it online they'll get a slight discount. It'll cost about £55 (rip off I know!) as for the rental amount I'll check this for u in the morning but I'm pretty sure it won't matter what figure is put down as the council will only pay u how much they decide to anyhoo. X
