I'm Currently Feeling: | I think a sweep is wiping membranes off the cervix, not sure though. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Internals they just check to see how your cervix is reacting, IE if your dilating or thinned out at all.
Sweep:"Membrane sweep", also known as membrane stripping, or "stretch and sweep" in Australia and the UK - during an internal examination, the midwife moves her finger around the cervix to stimulate and/or separate the membranes around the baby from the cervix. This causes a release of prostaglandins which can help to kick-start labour.
Basically the same stuff contained in sperm. Maybe you should be ? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Sweeps are where the midwife puts one or two fingers inside your cervix, not the same as an internal, if she can get into the cervix, she will do a sweeping motion which seperates the membranes from the uterine wall.
Good luck with it hun, I know it hurt me but that was more due to my pelvis then anything. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | An internal is just where they check how things are progressing in there... it's more of an examination than a procedure.
A sweep can sometimes be a bit more painful - it's where they run a finger along the cervix - but this can help labour along by separating the membranes and softening the cervix.
Good luck, I hope your LO makes her appearance soon! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | How far up is your cervix normally? Do they have to put alot of their hand in there to do a sweep? |

She'll probably have to push a little but she won't be sticking part of her hand in. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Best description I've heard of a membrane sweep is that it's like seperating an orange from the peel, lol. |
