Ive always been happy with my appointments but I get a scan and see a consultant as well as a midwife at every appointment. But i have heard a few people say this about their midwifes. I think their workload has increased lots from years ago. My first midwife was telling me how she doesnt like her job anymore coz there is so much to do. Where as before our GPs dealt with some of the workload. She said the system changed a few years back so that midwifes done everything.

As boring as the appointments may be, it is an essential part of pregnancy as this is the time that if anything is wrong it will be picked up. If you are after information, ask questions, that is what they are there for.

Sadly there are some awful midwives who are as grumpy as hell or are really not that interested in their job but these are few and far between luckily. It does make all the difference when you get a good MW! If your MW is the problem, ask to see another one, maybe you will get more out of having another one. x

My midwife is good but mostly I get fed up with having to got there all the time & I don't find them that use unless I have a question, which usually I don't.

My midwife asked my chosen hospital at my first appointment.. :S But as for birth and pain relief, they didnt discuss this until I had filled in my birth plan in my pregnancy book thingy.

yeh i kno how you feel because although i love going to hear the babies heartbeat and for her to say everything is going great etc im only ever in there 5 mins, and have never actually ever really spoke to my midwife about how im feeling, the labour or anything. she just assumed where i would be giving birth and i have had to ask about parent education classes etc. Put it this was i woul dnever call her if i had a problem cuz i dont hink she even remembers who iam when i go haha as she has to ask how far gone i am, i would just go to the local hospital lol!
