I'm in agony - can any one help or give me some advice?

I have been suffering with on/off back pain throughout my pregnancy and for about the last 3/4 nights I have been waking up in the night with a very sore pelvis. I have tried pillows etc etc but nothing really seems to completely aleviate the pain.

Anyway, today I have probably over exerted myself a bit but I really wanted to clean and go shopping etc etc and now I am feeling it

So after a day of shopping, cleaning out 3 rabbit hutches, hoovering, cleaning bathrooms, dusting etc etc my body has said it's had enough. When I try and walk and bring my right leg forward (and only my right) I have the most horrendous pain in my lower back/pelvis area. The pain is just about my right buttock and feels like someone is putting a knife in me. My leg keeps giving way and it is so painful it is reducing me to tears .

Do you think I may have just "over done it" or maybe damaged a muscle or something?

The pain alleviates when I sit down but walking is a real issue.

Thanks for any advice that anyone can offer.xx

Hi hun, you could have just over done it slightly, the stabbing pain in your bum sounds like siatica, try taking a coupe of paracetamol and a nice hot bath see if it sooths it. As for the backache at night I think its just one of the perils of pregnancy.

Sounds really painful hunny! I personally think you may of over done it. When I go out shopping or try and do loads of cleaning my back usually gives out and my ribs will become so sore that it is unbearable. I'd ring the docs and see what you can take for the pain. Hope it gets better.

OMG how much did you do today!! You have prob over done it, just remember your ligaments are all softer now and you need to take things a little easier than you would like to. If you are able to get in and out of the bath then that could help and a couple of paracetamol might help as well. Oh and tomorrow....... chill and rest up!!

I have suffered from pelvic pain for months now and can only manage 1 activity a day such as doing some washing, going to the supermarket etc. I dont vacuum at all now as it just kills me. Try to pace yourself and get your OH to take on a few more things so they dont drive you crazy.

So sorry to hear you're feeling so bad. I'm much the same and was referred to a physiotherapist by midwife, you could even just give your midwife a call and explain how you're feeling. Maybe you could get in to see a physio, they gave me a support belt which has helped my pelvis quite a bit and they'll show you some exercises etc to maybe se if they help. Hope you get this sorted out!!

I agree with the sciatica comment its as you describe your hurting, but you can also get the same symptoms from doing to much & it defo sounds like you have overdone it today hun, It could of triggered the sciatica or it may ease in a day or 2. As mentioned above take some painkillers & try grab a bath, A massage can help but doesn't work wonders for long . Hope your ok hun xx

Thank you to everyone for your kind words and advice. I am now in bed after a real struggle to get here. Hopefully I have just overdone it but I will see how I feel in the morning. If walking is as painful as it is now I will call the Doctors/Midwife first thing and see what they say.

I must try and do less but it's so hard. I'm usually such an active person but my body has been warning me for a while....this time I shall listen and learn

Thanks again. xx
