VBAC and induction

Hiyas Ladies,

Just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation that could offer some advise.

After many 'this is it' moments, it appears LO is in no hurry to make an entrance to the world. My due date was yesterday, 19th Sept, so I am now officially overdue although I do understand that anywhere between 38 - 42 weeks is considered normal.

I had an emergency C-Section with my first DD, and a sucessfull VBAC with my second DD. Labour started at 39+6 and she was born 40+1. I am booked in for an appointment to see the consultant on weds 23rd to discuss how to proceed if I haven't gone into labour by then.

At my last consultant appointment I asked if they would induce me or if I would have to go straight to another section, and she told me that as I had had one sucessfull VBAC they would be happy to induce me and do a 'trial by scar', although they would only let induction go on for so long and would only be done slowly.

My question is, that I completely forgot to ask at the appointment as I was so sure bubba was comming at 37 weeks is how long will they let you go over before wanting to start induction with a VBAC? Also I have been offered a sweep by my midwife at 41+6 which I have left open at the minute depending on how the consultant appointment goes. I know they say the later a sweep is done, the more chance of it working, but if the sweep works, how long do ladies find it takes for contractions to get going? If I have to go in and be induced at 42 weeks, will having a sweep the day before be long enough for it to work?

Sorry for the rambling, but I had completely convinced myself that baby would be here by now, and I didn't even entertain the possibilitys of what would happen if it was late. Now I'm getting myself into a state that I may have to end up with another section, which I am desperate to avoid

Thanks for reading and any advice xx

I had a c-section before and decided against induction with this one (after all the recearch I have done). If I go more then 42 weeks Ill have another c-section. I think it's the same with the induction. If you go over 42 weeks they will want to induce you.
So I really hope that Ill go into labour naturally and rather sooner then later (I am actually planning a homebirth VBAC).

It might be different for you as you already had one succesful VBAC.

If you are offered a sweep Id deffo go for it
