I'm Currently Feeling: | Blood Pressure Rant (long) Well, since seeing my doctor I've had consistently high blood pressure each visit we have. This obviously worried her and myself, so she put me on a 24 hour blood pressure monitor that monitored it every 15 minutes for a day to see how I was at home. It was perfect, all my numbers were where they should've been. I wasn't worried in the slightest as I felt physically fine and knew there was nothing wrong to begin with.
That was after the first time I met with her way back in August after finding out I was pregnant. Still, every time I go to her it's very high. I've been to see my birthing doctor and with them, my blood pressure is great. I've had nurses take it and it was fine. One day in particular when I finished up my appointment with her and had high BP I ran right to a nurse I know and asked her to take it, at the docs my BP was 140/90 (eek!) but 10 minutes later with the nurse it was 117/68, which is fine.
She pestered me to go on BP medication to lower it, but I feared since my BP was so low at home that it would make me ill and refused to take it. She was obviously worried because of my numbers with her, so I told her I would buy my own monitor and monitor myself everyday at home and bring her in my numbers. I've been doing this everyday and bringing it to her on my 2 week visits... my numbers have been consistently great and I feel fine! I've only ever had high BP with her... once she was sick and a new doc took my BP and it was great.
I just don't understand! She's now making me travel 4 hours to see a specialist to check the placental blood flow to the baby because of my persistent high BP but it's not persistently high. It's only been high the handful of times she's taken it. The countless other times I've taken it or others have, it's spot on.
I feel stuck in a rut. I started taking the pills a few days ago so she would get off my back, but they make me feel very ill. After taking them I feel weak, extremely drowsy and my heart-rate feels as though it decreases quite a bit. The only good thing about them is that they make me sleep through the night because they exhaust me so much.
I really don't know what to do. She's beginning to stress me out with all of this, because I know everything is fine, I just know it. I don't really know how to explain it... I'm so sorry this is long but this has been bothering me for a long time |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I would seek a second opinion, maybe she's been doing something wrong when she's taking your BP? Especially since every time someone else takes it it is fine?? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I was wondering if maybe she was using the wrong sized cuff, I noticed the doctor who took her place used a different cuff size and my blood pressure was good. I'll bring that up to her when I see her tomorrow, she's just so hard to talk to because she's stubborn. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I would definately question it--no need to be taking meds if there's no problem.... |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Exactly. I really dislike taking medication for any reasons-- headache or otherwise, so taking this for BP that I think is fine upsets me. There are SO many bad side effects from it as well, and that scares me.
I'll have to have a chat with her tomorrow. If my BP is STILL high with her and I've been taking the meds, I'll chew her head off I think. She's stressed me out about everything this pregnancy, I will not go back to her again when I decide on having more children.
She never even told me anything about being pregnant, didn't refer me to anyone to talk to. Thank goodness for you guys and the internet or I'd be lost.. I wouldn't know what I could or couldn't do. Last week was the first time she ever measured me. When I read about girls measuring bigger or smaller than they should, I had no idea what that meant. |

| I know there is something called white coat syndrome or white coat hypertension, Which is when you are around medical professionals your blood pressure hits the roof but is fine the rest of the time. It might just be that DR. if your pissed at her your blood pressure will go high if your expecting to be pissed her it can do... if that makes sense... Or if your stressed when she takes it. Some Dr's I just dislike and my blood pressure is always higher with them as they make me nervous. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I have a good feeling that's what it may be. I get so nervous and stressed every time I see her because I'm expecting her to nag me or take my BP and have it be high, so the entire time I'm sitting there I'm fretting.
I have a doc appt in an hour so I'll tell you guys what she says then and hope that will the pills it isn't high... |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Everything was great, thankfully. My BP was 118/80, so she was finally happy about it. However I think she still wants me to go see the specialist. We'll see what happens I suppose. Thanks ladies. |
