Toothache!

Girls, I just needed to have a bit of a moan!

I've got some severe toothache going on...I'm pretty certain that i'm gritting my teeth in my sleep and that's stressing them as I wake up with my teeth gritted. Also the ache swaps from my upper and lower jaw.

I've just called the dentist (Dental Access Centre as I'm not registered anywhere) and they have no-one to see people until next week so I have to take paracetamol until Monday and call them back. I've had this a couple of times but this is the worst I've had it.

It took all my courage to actually ring the dentist and now I can't get seen Ouchie!!!!!

I hope you're ok, if you are grinding your teeth it will cause pain in the joints of your jaws and it can transfer from top to bottom, your dentist can take some impressions and make you a bite guard that you wear in your sleep to prevent you grinding so if that is the problem it will be quite easy to fix, you can buy bite guards in some chemists which may help you in the mean time but it wont be as good as one that is made to fit your mouth. Grinding can also wear down your teeth as well as causing pain so you def want to avoid that if you can.

Thanks hun,

I'm just a little bit sick of it now, I've had it for 24 hours and it's getting worse rather than better! I know that a couple of nurofen would knock it on the head but I can't take them!!

I'm hoping I can get seen next week, until then, it's going to be dosed up on paracetamol. I had a bit of an eventful day yesterday so maybe that started it off!?

Thanks for the reply hun xxx

I would say to suck on a dry tea bag as that seems to be helping hubby a lot right now but I don't think it'll do much good for jaw pain from tooth grinding. If it were in a specific place and could reasonably be attributed to a cavity or abscess then the tea bag would definitely help.

Thanks girls..... the DAC is the emergency dentist unless I want to go and sign in at A&E and wait to be seen....which I don't particularly want to do. I may go and get a mouthguard tomorrow and see if that helps it at all as I know I'm doing it (have suffered a few times during pregnancy and before) but this is really really painful (took 2 paracetamol at 6pm, had worn off completely by 7.30 so now I'm left until 10pm to take another set).....wish I could just take soe nurofen....they work every time! Grrrrrrr

Thank you so much for the help ladies! xx
