demand or routine????

Hi for those who are formula feeding!!!

have you thought of demand your LO or simply try to establish a routine from day one( well when baby has gained birth weight back and is gaining weight regular) i have sooooooooooooo many books on like feeding sleeping patterns and how to be calm contented parent and have a happy baby they all suggest different things. and im not sure what i want to do i dont want my LO to scream the street down cause she hungry and on demand, but i also don want to deny her food if she wants it and on a routine she might decide she wants an hour earlier what to do?????????

Ive not thought to much about this but it reminds me of that programme that was on channel 4. Bringing up baby? With the 3 completely different methods. One was Truby kings and was horrible to watch..but done the job in the end if i remember right. They werent even allowed to talk to the baby whilst feeding it. And only allowed 10 mins cuddle time per day!

my son was demand and established his own pattern which turned out really well. He slept very well from early on. I think as long as you teach your baby that play time is day time and night time is sleep time it should work out. ie at night just do what your baby needs doing and put back to bed obviously hae cuddles but don't play or get excited and do al the play during the day when he/she is awake. If you try and force anything it will have its problems i think.
Just my humble opinion and i was blessed with a super chilled out son who just loved to eat and sleep!

If I was formula feeding I would feed on demand and hope that my LO established their own routine

Aww, that brings back memories

I'll also be feeding on demand if I'm not able to breastfeed. I did that with my son and he established his own routine
