Positive Induction Story - Birth of Jacob

As I was searching for induction stories before my induction I didn't come across too many positive ones so I hope this helps for anyone about to have an induction.

Jacob was due on August 20th by the scan date or August 25th by my period.
I had been having contractions every night for at least 3 hours since August 6th. The doctor told me then she would be surprised to see me at my next appointment which was on August 13th because I was already 1.5 cm dilated. At my next appointment on Aug 13th I was 2 cm dilated and we talked about induction. The doctor was sure I wouldn't need it that I would go early but I didn't. We booked my induction for August 26th.

Induction Day

I did not sleep very much at all the night before the induction. I only slept about 2.5 hours. We had to leave for the hospital at 6:00 to start the induction process. I was 2-3 cm dilated when we went in. At 7:30 the nurse came in and started the pitocin. It didn't start the contractions right away. At 8:15 the dr. came in and broke my waters. It felt so weird like I was peeing my pants but couldn't stop, but it didn't hurt or feel uncomfortable. At 9:00 I started getting pretty strong contractions that were quite uncomfortable. I laboured on my side in bed for the first 1.5 hours and I felt like I was not going to handle the labour well. Each contraction would make me tense all up even though I knew I should relax. At 10:30 the nurse checked me and I was 3-4 cm dilated. She then told me to try to sit in the rocking chair. Once in the chair the contractions were easier to handle. As long as I breathed and concentrated through them they were no stronger than intense period cramps. At 12:00 I started with a pain pump to help me to relax and make the contractions work better. By 1:00 I was 6-7 cm dilated and still not in much pain. I was laughing and talking between contractions. At 4:00 I was 8 cm dilated but starting to feel like I was going to start pushing soon at 4:30 I felt like I needed to push but the nurse told me not to as I was not quite ready yet.

Delivery
At 4:30 the contractions became very close together and very intense. I was not progressing because Jacob had turned and was now the the posterior position. I was told not to push because I was still not fully dilated and we had to try other positions to try to get him to turn. This was very uncomfortable and I could not help but push. By 5:30 I could not stop pushing through the contractions so the nurse told me to try to push and she would stretch the remaining cervix over his head so that I could deliver. Pushing was really difficult I was pushing as hard as I could and it was burning so badly but I couldn't stop. At 6:00 the dr came in to give me an episiotomy by 6:03 his head was out and I felt like I couldn't push anymore but I had to because I couldn't be contracting on his neck 3 more big pushes later at 6:05 he was born.

Overall labour was not too comfortable and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Pushing was very sore and I don't want to do it again in the near future but it was totally worth it. 12 hours altogether 7.5 hours of true labour and I have a miracle. I am on . Jacobs cousin Adam was also born on the 26th just 5 hours earlier.

Congratulations!! He is absolutely gorgeous!! You and your OH look so so happy. really happy for you.

Thank you for sharing your story, I think that it will definitely put most girls minds a little more at rest when they are going to be induced. As you say there are very few positive induction stories out there.
