is it normal to be so tired?

hi everyone.
i'm 31 weeks now and i'm really struggling to find the energy to get through every day. i haven't been at work for a while and just moved recently so i have no routine to keep up outside of the house. but even with plenty of free time, i really struggle just to do chores around the house. i know i haven't got long left and sometimes i think i should just make the most of being able to sleep as much as i want to. but having so little energy is starting to make me feel depressed because i'm not achieving anything with my time. is this normal? i felt a bit tired in the first trimester, but not even close to how tired i am now. my 'bump' is very active - can the baby use up ALL your own energy?

Have you had your glucose test yet? Might not be the case but I was really tired all the time too, even though i'm not working and am at home all day, and turns out my glucose test showed I have gestational diabetes and the high blood sugar levels can really make you feel tired, not trying to worry you just a suggestion, but i'm sure everything's fine and you're just getting used to not having much to do =]

alloyd519's suggestion about cheching for diabetes is good, id also ask them to run a blood check for your iron levels too hun as i had low levels around 32 weeks and on and its only on my 37 week check that they had risen to 10.2 (they were 9.6) and although the m/w is pleased they still want it higher, i was sleeping 12 hrs + a night and having a couple of hours sleep in the afternoons before they found out my levels were low. x

I've always been tired during this pregnancy, & after all the routine blood checks have always been told my iron levels etc are fine, but i'm pretty much exhausted most of the time. Probably due to having a 5 year old & nearly 3 year old to follow round all the time, lol!!

I've usually been in bed by 9pm most nights, sometimes even earlier, lol!!!

Well it could be from either of those things but your body is also burning up twice the calories to grow this little baby. Have you been eating frequent small meals and snacking? Make sure your taking in enough calories during the day to keep up with LO. If you're worried though you could talk to your DR and get some blood work done.

Sounds normal, I'm super tired no matter how much sleep I get. It's as if my body has gone into conservation mode of something lol. I still have one week left of work to go before maternity leave and it feels like a struggle. I'd say you're ok as long as your fatigue is not accompanied by diarrhea, faintness or shortness of breath.

thanks for your comments everyone - just knowing other people are struggling too makes it less scary. i had blood taken a couple of weeks ago and should hear soon if it's to do with iron or sugar levels.
