Basinette vs Crib

What do you ladies think? We ended up getting a crib from some friends of ours but we're thinking of buying a basinette too. Just so we can keep the baby closer.
With my son we ended up just keeping him in his crib in the nursery at night because we lived in a apartment and his room was really close. But with this one, we're in a townhouse and its going to be down the hall, I don't think I like the idea of the baby being that far away .
I just don't want it to be a hard tansition from basinette to crib later on so I'm confused on what to do. Get a basinette or just get a baby monitor? Also, does anyone know how long a baby can be kept in basinette or maybe even cradle?

i think they can be kept in them for upto 3 months aslong as they dont grow out of it, if its what i think ur talking about we call them moses baskets here is this one?

ive got a proper wooden crib in the bedroom and one of those ^^^ downstairs. just so i dont have to settle the baby into the crib when shes going asleep.

I also have both. I bought a basinet because I would like the baby close to us for the first 2-3 months at least (and I'm in an apartment!!!) then when bigger.. upgrade her to the crib. Do what makes you confortable.

Were having both also. We want our LO right next to us at night, so for the first few months she will be in a bassinet by our side. The bassinets, in the US at least, have weight guidelines. I think we go more off of how much they weigh than how old they are.

We have both too, makes it easier to let baby sleep in moses basket during the day, if he or she will sleep in the cot from the start then they can go in there at night, but if not they'll just sleep in the moses basket until they outgrow it!

Hi there just wanted to say that when all my girls were babies i always kept them in the moses basket downstairs then when it came time to go up to bed i moved the basket upstairs and placed it inside the cot as it disturbs them less. Of course it is a matter of preference for everyone.

I have a moses basket and a cot for when he gets bigger I just will want him really close to me for first few months. I know 2 people that kept there babies in the moses till there babies were 7months and other was a year lol they must have been falling out but apparently they were fine in it.

We're getting both... moses basket for the first couple of months and then a cot when baby is a bit older. Its easier to carry a basket round, and at least you can keep an eye out, but also because our bedroom would no way fit a cot in it, and we want to keep junior in with us for the first 6 months.

I think both are worthwhile, but its probably just what your comfortable with! The main reason we're getting a moses basket is because I know Im going to be paranoid (as its my first) and I want junior to be where I am.
