When are you taking your maternity leave

I want to leave on 21st March 4 weeks before due date I cant wait to leave here I hate it and hate it even more since becoming pregnant I have a horrible boss. I do hope I can make it till the 21st which is 8 more weeks as i am getting so tired coming to work dealing with my horrible boss , people still dont offer me a seat on the bus so i have to stand for ages sometimes as i work a hour away.

I'm Currently Feeling:

Well my work hasn't given me any hours since November even though I'm still employed by them. They are real bas****s because it's only because I'm pregnant. Anyway I don't think I was with them long enough to claim materniny pay through them so I will claim it from the government as soon as I can which I think is from 29 weeks.

Can anyone tell me how long you have to have been with an employer to get maternity pay from them? I started working there mid to late July 2007 and baby is due 15th May. Also will the fact I've not been earning anything from them since November make a difference to the pay?

Sorry if it seems like I'm hijacking your post firsttimer.

Im really not sure hun , i know at my work place you have to be working her a year before you become pregnant to be entitled to maternity pay.

Government money is same as from your work £112 a week I think not completely sure. Well you get 6 weeks 90% of your work pay if you work. If you dont work you get that £500 grant thing to help you out.

Taken from the direct.gov.uk website:

To qualify for Statutory Maternity Pay you must have been:

* employed by the same employer without a break for at least 26 weeks into the 15th week before the week your baby is due
* earning an average of at least £87 a week (before tax)

If you can't get Statutory Maternity Pay, you may be able to get Maternity Allowance instead.

If you don't qualify for Statutory Maternity Pay or Maternity Allowance, you may be able to get some Incapacity Benefit or a Sure Start Maternity Grant instead if you or your partner or civil partner are claiming benefits or tax credits.

Hope this helps you

I'm due in just under a month and I'm working up until the end of Jan which will make me 38 weeks. I'm going as far to the end as possible. My case may be a bit different as my job is not stressing me but depending on how you feel it may be best to leave early.

Due to the fatigues and frequent braxton hicks that I'm having, I will be stopping at 38 weeks, so I'll work through Feb, but I do hope to deliver by 37 though....
