Traveling in 3rd tri?

I've got lots of questions today... Sorry!!

Tomorrow morning, me & DH, and his family are going to Tahoe/Reno for a few days... And I'm a little nervous. We are driving, but the altitude of going over those mountains, and back down is like 7500 feet. The main reason I'm worried about it, is because my cousin who lives in Sparks, NV came to CA for her baby shower, drove back to Sparks, and a day later went into early labor. Her son was born 4 1/2 weeks early. She told me it could have been from that, but also she was under a lot of stress, and that it might not have been. I think I'll be ok, but does anyone know if traveling into much different altitudes can have any effect on pre-term labor? In pleasanton, we are like at 300 ft, so 7500 is quite a difference. Thanks girls!

Hmm, I don't think it had anything to do with the altitude. But thats my opinion, I could be totally wrong lol. They advise you not to travel in the last trimester because of going early. I think you'll be just fine

I was told one time way before I became pregnant that the 3 tri. was the best time to travel..... but now that I'm in it, I really disagree. LOL To me it seems like its the worst time becasue you can get so far way from your doc.

If you think you can handle it (I know I couldn't) then I would say go and have a good time! Just try not to stress.

I hope you have fun and the best of luck to ya!

OO cool! We are actually taking 80 the whole way from 5 since were going into Reno first. We usually go to Tahoe, and take 50, so I'll have to notice it next time lol. I think I'll call an advice nurse before we leave to make sure, but I think that things will be ok. And it will be really nice to get away for a few days, stay at a nice hotel.. And my mom is babysitting our puppy for the weekend, and he is almost as demanding as a baby, LOL so it will be nice.

Thanks girls!

Have a good holiday, I think its more air travel they are concerned about, drink lots of fluid and take regular stops to walk for a bit
