Question for mummys on who have had 2nd baby's!

Ok... So what are these after pains i have heard about!!!

I remember being in hospital last time around and the girl next to me had her 2nd child. All the through the night she was sobbing in pain and i heard the midwife tell her it was after pains because this was a 2nd pregnancy! My mum confirmed these pains... i don't want these pains lol

!!

Have any of you mums who have had two baby's or more experienced them? Is there anything you can do to prevent them? i know the girl that was next to me got a heat pack to help ? just wondering what anyone else did xx

I have never heard of this, i definately didn't get them with number 2 hopefully i won't get them this time either.

my mum warned me about after pains and yes i had them and they bloody hurt. dont know if the breastfeeding made them worse tho.

It can happen after any birth be it your first or second or 15th and is usually why they suggest taking something like paracetemol after birth if not something stronger.

I had them with 1 and 3 so hoping the even number works for me and skips 4!!

In the grand scheme of things emotions are high after birth anyway and considering all you go through to get baby out a day or so of tummy pains isn't the end of the World and most people forget them.

I hope you don't get them though having said that but just take some painkillers for the first 2 days.

I had them with Emily, like mild period pains but after Jack jeeez, it was like being kicked by a horse, they made me doubleover and gasp.

Looking at these replies though it seems to vary from person to person

yep i had them thought contractions had started again lol they passed in time just a shock to me as noone told me i about the after pains and i only got them with my second baby

I am on number 3 and I never had them either, my mate did, and co codamol helped her with them.

yep i got them with the second, didnt with first, but from the comments here not everyone gets them so i wouldnt worry.
