She's here(pics too) - Jasmine Megan Thomas(puddingqueen) QUITE LONG - GRAB A CUPPA

Hi all

Before I begin I would like to say a massive thankyou to Tam for keeping you all updated on the birth of our beautiful daughter - Jasmine Megan Thomas.

Will give you a brief(sort of) birth story - Went to the hospital Thursday 13th at 7am to be turned away as there were no beds , told to come back in the evening, went back for 7pm, got settled on the ward, 10.30pm given my first dose to start me off - just after 11pm pethidine injection given for pain relief. Slept most of the night. Friday 14th August - 5.30am, 4cm dilated - went over to delivery suite - had a bath, ward called Dave, Dave arrived just after 6am, started on the gas and air. Most of the build up to the delivery is very vague - at one stage I thought I was in Tunisia - the gas and air was fantastic - I had no other pain relief. Towards the end they used a suction cup twice but this failed so Jasmine was born by forceps delivery, I was also in stirrups and at one point they asked me to roll on my left side - as a result of this now, my cocyx hurts constantly - so I am now on pain killers and anti biotics too - I also had 3 stitches. Jasmine Megan was delivered at 10.38am. Here is some info off my delivery notes:
Friday 14th August
Onset of labour - 5.30am
End of first stage - 10.00am - 4 hrs 30 mins
End of second stage - 10.38am - 38 mins
End of Third stage - 10.43am - 5 mins
Total time in labour - 5 hours & 13 mins
Head circumference - 34.5 cm
Length - 52cm - (think I may of said 54cm sorry)
I was so shocked when I read this - having a short labour. As soon as she was born I tried to BF and I did this continually for 2.5 day, within this time Jasmine's body temp became quite low and her blood glucose became quite low too, as a result of this she went over to special care on Saturday morning - only for an hour so they could get her temp and glucose levels up - they gave her a drip feed. When she came back Dave and I took the tough descision to put her on the bottle due to the fact she had been over to SCBU and we needed to know she was drinking. To tell you the very truth I cried my eyes out but Dave and the midwives made me realise it was for the best to put her on the bottle as then we could monitor her feeds........well the very first bottle we gave her she lapped it up all 70ml of it, poor thing must of been so hungry. She was continually monitored there on and then things started to get alot better, even though I was so tired. Come Monday morning I asked if we could go home and the staff said we would both need checking over - if we got the all clear we could go home in the afternoon, well the baby doc/my doc came- gave us both the all clear that we could go home. Dave arrived at 3pm, Jasmine had a bath about 3.30pm and we then left a little later on.

Now at home everything is going really well, she is fed sort of every 4 hours during the day but in the evening its nearer two, she drinks between 60-70ml each time. Going to register her birth on Thursday too.

I would like to thank everyone on here at BnB - you have given me so much support and encouragement over the last 9 months and I am so grateful and thankful to you all. Feels really weird I don't belong to the 3rd tri anymore but no doubt I will be making random appearences. Don' t worry I will get round to changimg my signature - when I am not busy

Thankyou all so much words, cannot described how grateful I am - you are all so wonderful.

Hope everyone else is ok.....................

Lots of

Lynn Dave & Jasmine xxx
