cant decide wether to breast feed for first few days

i do not want to breast feed and was planning to bottle feed straight away in the hospital, i work in a nursing home and recieved a fax last week with a warning of a big epidemic (if thats how u spell it) of the flu which will effect old people and babies more than anybody else, so now i dont know wether to breast feed in the hospital and express for the first week or two at home to give her the goodness from the breast milk ??? xxx

I personally think this has to be a decision that you want. If you are undecided I would say give it a go as it is always easier to go from breast to bottle then the other way roud, and yes there are proven benefits but only do so if you feel comfortable.

well I think it would be good to breast feed maybe for the first week so the baby gets the extra good milk that has the colustrum. It has antibodies in it which will help a new born babies immune system. You cant find the same nutrients from a formula. But you can just try and see what you think.

I couldnt decide how to feed Oliver when he was born. In the end i gave BF ago as i thought i had nothin to lose and at least i can change to bottle if it didnt work out-Not so easy the other way round. Also it was nice to have been able to give him that 1st bit of goodness and be close to him. I think if u can it is nice to start out with BF as it really is nice to share that moment. But its entirly YOUR choice hun. Dont let anyone make u do what u dont want. x
