Amelia Alice Hewit has arrived!

WOW! She's here! I can't believe it, we are the luckiest parents ever!

I'm keeping this short for now as I've not got a lot of time (surprisingly!) but i will be back for the full story as soon as I can! (and have taken a course in one-handed keyboard skills!)

So, Amelia Alice Hewit was born on Wednesday 12th August at 10.05am, weighing in at 7lb 7oz.

It was a traumatic labour which began early on the morning on the 11th August and ended in a emergency c-section on the morning of the 12th, all of which was even more scary as I'd spent the afternoon of Monday 10th in A&E with DH and his infected leg (long story!). He got admitted to hospital for an operation on it as the infection had abcessed and ended up staying in until the 13th August so he missed the labour and the birth of his daughter which was so sad, especially because even once she had been born he wasn't allowed to see her due to hospital swine flu regulations and because his leg was infected. But we are all at home now and Daddy and Amelia get on so well! They've bonded perfectly and would think they'd never been apart!

Amelia is a very good baby, but has been blessed with her fathers short fuse, so loses her temper very quickly! So breast feeding is still a work in progress as she's not got the patience to latch on! So Mammy is doing all the hard work twice at the moment! I was expressing milk and feeding it to Amelia from a cup but last night have made the decision to move to feeding the breast milk from a bottle as she's just got no interest in latching on (the world and his wife (from breastfeeding experts to family!) have tried to get her on but she's having none of it! It'll mean expressing all of the milk and possibly topping up here and there with formula, but the change in her over night after having had a good feed from a bottle is amazing!

We've had some fantastic family around us who came at the drop of a hat to help out with the-Daddy-in-hospital situation once my labour kicked off, and they have all helped us all immensely since. With me recovering from a section (ouch BTW!) and DH with a gaping wound in his leg we're both a bit useless right now and neither of us can drive so all our help is very much appreciated!

I promise I'll get more photos on asap, but between cup feeding, expressing, burping, nappy changes, cuddles and (a tiny amount) of sleep there's not a lot of time left for much else!!!

Right I'm off to take advantage of Daddy winding Amelia so I can have a widdle, brush my teeth, brush my hair, get husband a cushion for his leg, express some milk and feed myself! (in that order) By which time Amelia will be ready to go all over again!

Mammy... I mean Sam
