I need opinions!!

Hiii! So the whole last trimester of my pregnancy has sucked. I have pregnancy induced hypertension, edema and my blood pressure is always high. My doctor told me he won't let me go past 40 weeks But yesterday he told me that he will be going on a week long vacation next week, and well, MY DUE DATE IS NEXT WEEK He told me he wouldn't let me go past 40 weeks, that he would induce me, but how can he induce me if he isn't there? After he told me he'd be leaving for vacation for a week he said "but I'll make sure theres somebody here to deliver the baby."
I went to the neighbors today and they asked me how the doctors appointment went (she just had her baby three months ago, she has the same doctor and she was induced by him also) and I told them my dilemma. That I was so excited because he wouldn't let me go past 40 weeks but I'll be 40 weeks next week, so how can he induce my labor if he's not there. They said that this thursday (when i have my next appointment) they will probably schedule my induction. They told me that if he said he wouldn't let me go past 40 weeks, that he would keep to his word and would induce me.
I thought hooray!
BUT what if I go thursday, and they don't even say anything about an induction? Should I mention it? How do you ask you doctor to induce you without being a bitch about it?
Sorry if this doesn't make any sense, I don't really know how to explain it.
SO IN A NUTSHELL, I was told I wouldn't go past week 40. But 40 weeks for me is next week, when my doctor will be on vacation. How can I not go past my due date and be induced if my doctor isn't even there? Will they just give me another doctor?
Thanks for any replies

Try not to worry too much! with my second, my doc was due to go on holidays around my due date and she also wanted to induce 1 week early because of the baby's size, so anyway she got me to see a fill in doc and that doc had all my records so new what the other doc wanted! and as a result i was induced!
I would bring it up with the new doc as soon as you see him/her and im sure they will induce you no worries!
good luck, i hope all goes well! I'm sure there's nothing to worry about!

Yeah, I would just ask the doctor when you see them. I'm sure if they read your chart, they will know the issues you are having and it should indicate the induction right on there. You could also call your dr. office before he leaves and see if he has made arrangements for the induction while he's gone, just to remind him to put something in your notes.

thank you all for the replies! well i go back tomorrow because monday he had to take more blood for more tests because i am still having headaches/seeing spots, so hopefully he will mention me being induced. but what if he doesn't? should i ask him? and he didn't tell me the exact date he leaves, he just said next week he will be on a weeklong vacation, so i am assuming every day next week (mon-fri) he will be gone.

i have stressed over this

Definately ask him, do not feel shy about being forthcoming, this is your body and your baby, and after all it was him that mentioned it in the first place. He won't be offended, part of the reason you go to these appointments is to discuss these issues, not be talked at, it seems crazy to go through another week of a hellish pregnancy for the sake of broaching the subject when you don't need to!!
I wish you well hun xx

Not sure where you live but in England we don't get the same doctor we just get who is on duty at the time. I guess he'll just get a replacement in, give him a ring and say you are confused. They should keep you informed all the time. Your allowed to ask questions when ever you need to. x

I live in the US in the state of Kentucky (that sounds weird telling someone what country I live in, don't talk to many people outside the states )
My doctor is a very good doctor, which is why I chose him (i was referred to him by many people actually...) and he seems extremely busy, every appointment there is always a 2 hour or longer waiting period no matter what time i am scheduled to be there, because he is either seeing someone else or actually delivering babies. One lady in the waiting room told me that he had delivered 17 in one morning, which seems crazy. I guess this is the reason I do not like to bother him with questions
How would I go about asking him if he says nothing about it?
"So uhh, are you gonna induce me or not?" sounds a bit odd.
This is my first pregnancy and I don't really know what to do about these sorta things...
