37 weeks too early to start maternity leave?

Ladies, I am getting more and more exhausted as each day goes by and the pain of my ligaments stretching at my belly are sometimes so bad, I can't even walk properly.

My fingers are swelling from water retention, which makes them really painful for me sometimes...(I'm not mentioning about my leg cramps when I sleep at night)

I am planning to start maternity at 37 weeks, which makes it 25 Feb....but I'm worried I lose the time with my baby, just because I wanted to rest, am I being too selfish?

My #2 was delivered at 36 weeks, I wonder if I will deliver that early this time round too?

When do you ladies think you will start your maternity?

If you can't handle it, then take it early. I honestly would not put myself through it if it was taking a terrible toll on my body. If I was working, I would probably have taken the mat leave at 36 weeks. I think one month before is good. I hope you feel better soon

If you are not at your best and feeling exhausted, that is not the best thing for your baby, so no, you will not be being selfish at all, you will be looking out for both your best interests! x

I don't think it's too early at all, especially if you're struggling. I was due to start mine at 37 weeks, but was signed off sick from 31 due to premature labour scares. To be honest though, I don't know how I would've coped until 37 weeks... all the travelling, sitting at a desk all day, urgh. I was sooo tired those last few weeks, I think I'd have ended up finishing earlier than 37 weeks had I not been signed off. Do what is best for you.
