Loss of appetite

Hi guys,

last few days I've had little or no appetite....I was eating like a horse but now it's dropped off.

I still eat three meals a do but I can't stomach a heavy meal and I've found it easier to just snack little and often. I've felt off (and so has hubby) for about a week so I think it may be a bug but I'm worried as I appear to have lost a little bit of weight off my legs and bottom.

An example of what I eat at the moment -

Breakfast - cereal with milk, OJ and cup of tea
Lunch - Toasted sandwich, cheese and biscuits or cereal again, Yoghurt, some kind of fruit (strawbs today), glass of squash
Dinner - cooked meal of some description (last night had curry, not sure what tonight as I really can't think.) normally followed by home made cake.
Have liquids and the odd snack of a choccy digestive or two during the day

I can see having written it down that I'm not exactly starving but I'm worried that my intake isn't enough and I'm doing something wrong.

Hey chick!
Sorry to hear you've both been feeling under the weather recently, hopefully the bug will shift really soon.

With regards to what you're eating, it sounds fine, honestly. I think we only need to eat an extra 200 calories a day in the last 4 weeks of pregnancy, so dont worry about undereating.

If it helps, I cannot finish a meal anymore, I need to have little bits every couple of hours or so, and I tend to eat my dinner in 2 sittings. I just dont have room for it anymore, so it could also be your little one is squishing your belly and not giving you enough room to actually put your food - hence making you feel fuller xx

Hey hun:-)

You are eating perfectly fine. I eat about the same, maybe even less.... (and still managing to put on loads of weight).

Hi hun, my appetite has been down for the last month or so now, but would keep an eye on it if you're feeling under the weather.

I cant eat big meals either now, so I eat about 5/6 times a day now (this helps my diabetes stay in control so I'm going to try and stick with it after the birth)

Thanks girls.

I don't know what this bug is if indeed it is one. My parents have both had a similar thing where they just felt really bad for about a week (but I haven't seen them for weeks!) Hubby is normally indestructable so it's odd for him to feel off. I've found that as long as I keep my fluids up, drink milk and if I need sleep, I sleep.

Thanks for the re-assurance girls. Off to ring the Dr's in a bit to go for my blood tests...if I'm dying I'm sure they'll pick it up in that!

Thanks everyone!

I've been feeling much less hungry. But I think that's partly to do with constantly feeling like stuffing my face previously

I'm probably not eating enough really - but am getting through 2pts of milk a day!

I was like this last week, didn't feel hungry at all and only ate because i had to(which is very unusual for me as i love my food normally). This week i can't stop eating and feel constantly hungry!! Maybe baby is having another growth spurt this week. I do find like others have said that i can't eat as much as get full and uncomfortable more easily. Hopefully it will settle and you'll both be feeling better soon.
