EDEMA (swelling) affecting my smile!

So as some of you may already know by one of my last posts, I have pregnancy induced hypertension high blood pressure, edema, and i'm dehydrated.
The edema is pretty bad, when you press on my leg it leaves a big dent for about 20 minutes. It looks really weird and gross to tell you the truth, and I have it in my legs and hands and ankles and feet and arms but the worst is in my face! Does anyone else have a real problem with swelling in the face? I am 38 weeks and 2 days, and the swelling is unbelieveable. I recently had a visit with my father and he said I didn't even look like the same person He said my face looked severely swollen, and now it's making me paranoid. Whats really bothering me about it, is I think it's affecting my smile...I wore braces for about 4 years and have lost my retainer (haven't worn retainer for about 6 months...) but my teeth doesn't look like they have shifted much, it just looks like my smile isn't as big? It's really bothering me because I feel extremely ugly in this pregnancy, regaurdless of what my hubby/friends/family tell me
Here is a picture of my teeth before pregnancy:l_4652b51803cb4233975ce529d09ee08a.jpg
And here is my smile during pregnancy (around week 30, i think)l_863f1c6a9f254800882eac401199e028.jpg

You can see how much my face is swollen and I think i just can't smile as big and bright because of it
Anyone else have this problem? Thanks ))

Have you told your mw about it? Reason I ask is cause *I think* they say its one of the things they tell you to look out for with pre eclampsa (swollen face I mean). I dont mean to sound alarmist but its worth consulting with your mw to check I think.

Yeah, they put me on bedrest and will probably induce me soon. All they tell me is to drink plenty of fluids, get up only to go to the bathroom or shower or something like that.

Just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone , thanks

Awww hun you are still beautiful. It is so difficult to see yourself look different than before and I can completely relate to how you feel. I have hidden our full length mirror from our bedroom as I can't really cope with catchin glances of myself when I am getting dressed. My DH tells me that I am beautiful and that to him the only difference is my bump but for me I can see a million things which I dont like at all.

But it is temporary and if your Oh is anything like mine he hasn't actually noticed half the things which you have. Guys tend to not notice as much as us girls do. We see that we have gained or lost 1/4Lb in weight or if our handbag is a slightly different shade than our shoes when all our men see is that you are you wearing shoes and a handbag. I know my DH barely notices anything I do which is different unless I put a neon sign on my head saying LOOK I'VE CHANGED MY HAIR COLOUR TO PINK POLKA DOTS!

Your DH loves you and when he looks at you all he sees is the stunningly beautiful lady who is the mother of his child and I'd bet my ass that he is intensely proud of you.

To be honest, I thought the 2nd photo was another 'before' photo -- I really don't see a difference in your face between them. You're a lovely girl!
