| measuring 32 weeks and i'm only 28! Hi as title says I'm measuring 32 weeks and i'm only 28 weeks today. Everyone(even strangers) are commenting on how big i look and it's starting to make me feel paronoid! I do feel huge and very tired and am starting to worry about how big i'm going to get if i'm this big at this stage. Anyone else measuring big for their dates. It's all baby as i was weighed yesterday and i've only put 16 pounds on through this pregnancy which i think is quite good. | | | | Status: Offline

| Hiya I think some docs/midwifes measure differently, at my 28 week appointment I was seen by a midwife and I was told I was measuring for 32 weeks but all was fine, then today I had my 30 week appointment at my GP's and I measured 31 weeks! I wouldn't worry hun, everyone grows differently, some peeps say I look big for 30 weeks and others say I'm small! | | | | Status: Offline

| I was measuring 30 weeks at my last appointment and I was 27+5. My doctor wasn't worried because they didn't have me do an ultrasound to check on baby. My glucose test also came back negative so there was no worry. Some babies just grow differently. Also, fundal measurement is not always accurate, they measure you to get an idea as to how your growing. So, I wouldn't worry. | | | | Status: Offline

| I had my 28 week appointment yesterday, and when m/w first measured me I was 31, but then I told her I was having a BH, so when belly went soft again she measured again and it was 28.
Also if I measure myself first thing in the morning it is much smaller than if I measure later on in the day.
I don't think this way of measuring baby is very accurate. | | | | Status: Offline

| I measured 32 weeks at 28 weeks, and when I had a growth scan at 32 weeks, the baby was only 6 days ahead (with a + or - or 5 days on that).
The tape measure is not at all accurate, and can mean several things - a big baby (they will check for gestational diabetes and posibly do a growth scan) or just something as simple as lots of fluid or a baby with long legs!!
Don't worry about it at all. xx | | | | Status: Offline

| See, the fundal height thing makes me wonder because so many people say it's a fairly meaningless measurement yet the midwives do set some store by it. I have always measured pretty much spot on, either exactly the cm to the week or one out, but what if baby is tiny and I have tonnes of extra fluid, or baby is massive and I have a lack of fluid - making the measurement SEEM ok but really hiding a problem?
It worries me a bit (and I don't need to look hard to find things to fret over...) | | | | Status: Offline

| Thanks for the replies, I'm not sure it's that accurate but sometimes can't help worrying about stuff! Just wish other people would stop saying how big i look! I got asked if it was twins yesterday!! It's not! | | | | Status: Offline

| My measurements don't really make sense but the midwife said I was perfect (confusing) - I was 28 weeks, I measured 28 cm, she has written 30 weeks on my notes?
I think everyone does it slghtly differently. If there was a problem then I'm sure she would have ut you in for further tests. Try not to worry....everyone grows at different rates....you may just be an early developer. | | | | Status: Offline
