I'm Currently Feeling: | No-one wanted to see me at 39 weeks either i have to wait until 40+1.
I dont "think" they will do a sweep until you are T+7 dont hold me to that but im sure thats what Im told. Being that engaged is good though! Wish I was lol

I'm Currently Feeling: | Shes not engaged anymore according to the hospital, i didnt think that could happen but she said it could either that or my MW got it wrong. Im not sure though, i spose in a way i should be thankful cos there is nothing wrong and they are obviously not worried!

The engagement or 'station' is usually measured in '5ths' and is based on the fact that the width of an adult hand is about the size of a term baby's head. When recording engagement on your pregnancy records, usually the amount of the baby's head that is felt by the caregiver's hand is measured and written down, providing a guide as to how much of the baby's head is engaged in the pelvis. As a guide:
If 5 finger widths of your baby's head is felt, it is written as 5/5 palpable or 'unengaged'.
If 4 finger widths of your baby's head is felt, it is written as '4/5' palpable or 1/5 engaged.
If 3 finger widths of your baby's head is felt, it is written as '2/5' palpable or 2/5 engaged.
If 2 finger widths of your baby's head is felt, it is written as '2/5' palpable or 3/5 engaged.
If 1 finger width of your baby's head is felt, it is written as '1/5' palpable or 4/5 engaged.
If your baby's head cannot be felt it is written as 'fully engaged' or 'not palpable'.
Hope this helps xxxx My midwife came wednesday saying i was 3/5 palp which i found out ment i was 2/5 engaged!!!!!!! xxxxxxx Took me ages find what it ment so hope this helps | Excellent information! Just to clarify further, MW or doc takes the finger width measurements of how much of baby's head can be felt ABOVE the pubic bone. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | mine's been engaged since 22 weeks but didnt really get a reading until 35 weeks when midwife told me he was a -2 station (meaning that he's 2 cm above the occipital bones---but very engaged) he;s not coming back out ---lol
ya they say they can always nudge themselves back out of being engaged but they are less likely to the further along u r cause their heads get pretty heavy and its most comfortable for them to stay head down--- |
