I'm planning on breastfeeding but I brought formula aswell and I've gor SMA Gold, everything will come naturally to you in the end huni, you can sterilize the bottles as you use them

You can steralise bottles once you get home. Just give them a good wash a rinse and pop them in the steriliser. Takes no time at all.

I started on Cow & Gate formula but didnt agree with LO so changed over to Aptamil. They are both made by the same manufactor but the Cow and Gate was a little too rich for Olivia but every baby is different,

Everything will come naturally to you trust me. I was the youngest in my family had had next to nil experiences with babies but i beleive im managing fine and if im ever unsure... thats what the forums for. The midwives are great and will come out uil babys 28 days...

You will also have a health visitor intouch around week 2 who are supposed to offer advice however most people find a hinderance but on the off chance you get a decent health visitor you can give them a call any time if you become unstuck.

I used sterilisers before I had Bethanie, changed nappies, babysat but when we were alone with her, I seriously thought "oh shit". Suddenly this steriliser was looking at me, and something which would be soo easy to work seemed like the hardest thing in the world (it's not so easy when you've not slept properly for days).

You sterilise as you go along, because the bottles will not be sterile if you leave them sitting around too long. All we did was wash the bottles up as we went along, then loaded them into the steriliser then switch it on for the next batch of 6. It's daunting at first, but it'll become seond nature.

We used SMA Gold (I didn't do a lot of research as I was meant to be breastfeeding) but to be completely honest, the only reason we used that milk was because that was the only one I knew about properly.

If you need anymore help, just ask.

I was the same, my hospital had cow and gate and he liked it so i stuck with it as i couldn't breast feed. No point sterilizing now as they don't stay that way, anything that has been left for more than 12 hours i would say sterilize again (if the nesting is getting bad though go for it, i will be!!)

I was the same as you babe in the sense that I had no experience of babies and the whole thing daunted me......infact the day my 1st was born (at the time) was the scariest day of my life as once my family had left the hospital I was left alone with this tiny baby and I never knew what to do?! But you learn and adapt very fast! You will be great babe, and you have some great advice above! x

Same here, I had no experience of babies whatsoever, but you just learn it as you go along. If it reassures you though, I'd say buy a parenting manual or something and have a little read of it. Although you do learn more from doing everything than from reading about it. For example, I now know to have tissues ready for when Ryan decides to spray the room when having his nappy changed.

I use Aptamil as I was breastfeeding/expressing, and it is supposed to be closest to breastmilk. My HV recommended it too. xx

I'm going to use Cow & Gate, i used it with my DS & he was fine with it so hopefully this LO will be the same. I've used SMA before with my DD but she was always sick & very constipated, so i've not tried it again. If our new LO doesn't like C & G then i'll try Aptamil.

I've got some of the bottles in the steriliser just now, just because there isn't room to put them in the cupboard, lol. Will probably give it a run through before the LO arrives, just so i know the steriliser actually works!
