Hope you managed to get some sleep eventually and that you're feeling a bit better about things today. I think I'd be freaking out a bit too but I'm sure they'll be able to give you something to calm you a bit. Other than that, you could always consider being knocked out for the section rather than being conscious throughout it but I don't know how you'd feel about that.

Just think - in 2 days time you'll be meeting your LO. Focussing on that thought might help you through.

have a look. they develop as a result if anxiety. you focus on your bodily symptoms and catastrophise them and then you focus more on the bodily symptoms and they get worse so you ficus even more and before you know it you are panicking. As soon as you feel like that distract yourself... get up and start cleaning, etc etc.

...and just remember, you weren't born with panic attacks... you can control them. If you have a negative thought, try and balance it with a good one. YOu will be fine at your c-section. Plenty of people have had them, I am sure many have also had panic attacks before. If you are concerned, I am sure they will give you a sedative to calm you down before you are taken to theatre xx

Hi hun

Sorry to hear you;re having panic attacks - they can be very scary in themselves so I hope you are feeling a bit better now.

Can you have a chat with your midwife today perhaps and talk your fears through with her to make you feel reassured sooner rather than later?

In my experience of panic attacks talking through whats scaring you is the best medicine, and trying your best to think rationally about whatever it is is the best way to feel better.

How about writing down all the things you're excited about with the baby and reassurances for yourself that all will go well with the section, and if you feel anxious again you can read them through over and over? That should distract you a little bit hopefully and help calm you down. I know it worked for me

Just try to remember that whilst a section is a serious operation it is also pretty routine these days and the chances of anything going wrong are very low. They do them all the time. The scar you will be left with is now tiny in comparison to what they did years ago, and so long as it's possible (due to placenta location etc) they usually make the incision where your knicker line would be, so if you're concerned about having a big obvious scar then try not to, as it probably won;t be the case.

Big hugs and hope you're feeling lots better

Sam x

thanks girls

i did get to sleep eventually, i sat up for a while and watched big bro, my whole body was shaking in the end, it was like i was really cold but wasnt iykwim, then went to bed about an hour later and fell asleep sitting up.

i still feel a bit weird today so i got up and did some ironing, had a nice bath and gonna wait till OH gets home then get him to take us for a walk round the shops, and got a friend coming round. im just trying to keep my mind of it all now.
i was thinkin of ringing my mw fairysam, ive got her number out so if i feel it coming again im gonna ring her later.

the thing is ive had a c-section before 13 years ago but it was done under GA and was a emergency so didnt have that fear of the build up, it was all a blur at the time.

im just getting myself so worked up, and i need to calm down! ive saved that website whitelilly and will keep going back to read it over the next 2 days, its really good thanks
